Center Console swap

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Lincoln ave

Just swapped out top piece of center console in my 2000. Thanks for the tips on here. Took all of about 5 mins. Got the whole entire console for 35. If anyone needs the bottom half let me know. The color on the bottom says midnight black. I think a stripper owned the car. there was glitter everywhere and it smelled like perfume lol.

Wonder if it was a Lookers stripper

Posted by: Lincoln ave

Why is that, did you spill her perfume and glitter?? LOL

Posted by: NYC LS8

That place gets nuts. I plead the fifth.

That was the first time i actually fit a mercedes and a lexus inside another car lol.

Congrats! That center console swap is a must. Are you sure you don't need the bottom half? I need to redo my swap and use the bottom half that came with it. There's a noticeable gap on the side if you just swap the top. It's because the original bottom half has the gap to accommodate the flip out cup holder (that doesn't hold any cups - lol)

Posted by: Lincoln ave

There is no gap at all and dont forget those flip up cup holders take up the same room as the other cup holders. They just dont flip up but they take the same space. It's a perfect fit and color/texture match.

before and after pics?

Posted by: Lincoln ave

I'll take some pics but there are not gonna be before pics seeing that iam not gonna take it apart again. I need to but a few pics of the car up anyways.

There is a little gap, its near the e-brake, I'm too lazy to swap the entire thing the little gap doesnt bother me.

As I stated in the last post THERE IS NO GAP. I will take pics tomorrow like I said. I looked everything over when I put the top piece on and then looked over again after the earlier post said there would be a gap, I have nothing there.

Check out the picture that I posted on a previous post:

And as you see there is no gap, I only replaced the top piece. You can see the cleared corners and LSE geille. Although the grille looks chrome in that pic. Any one have those clear lenses so I can get rid of that amber lens?

Posted by: 00_slow_5spd_ls

ii got a tan console. 50 bucks shipped its in the classifieds sec

Posted by: BatMobile

Interesting.

I've seen the clear corner lenses on eBay here and there. But, the only real place to get them is LSKoncepts. Can't you just remove the lenses?

Posted by: Lincoln ave

I don't wanna just pull the lenses out. I want it to look right, I'am also gonna get the Angel eyes. I don't wanna pull the lenses apart twice though.

The dealer or be patient and wait for one to pop up on ebay.

Keep tabs with LKQ on e-bay. Thats the best bet. I got mine for 49$ and they transfered it to a LKQ that is on the way to a lake we go to over the weekends and allow customer pick ups.

I installed the entire thing in around 10 minutes while I was still in the parking lot.

My folding cup holder was fine since the previous owner carved out that lip piece so it would sit more flush but does it not bring just a totally different more refreshing look to the inside of the car?

I finally changed the bottom part of my console out last night while installing my PS2. It's nice not having that gap anymore. And it's fun playing need for speed in the car! I just need to figure out where to mount the damn thing now...
