Ok, I'm half retarded and DROPPED my passenger headlight when I was putting the vynil eyelids on. Nothing actually broke, but I did knock one of the CCFL rings out of place, it leans forward a little.
My question is if I put the headlight into the oven to open it up again would this adversely affect the vynil eyelid? If it would, any other suggestions on how to open them, or otherwise pull the ring back into alignment? My thought was to use a fish hook on a line to pull it back upright, but how to re-attach it? Tie the line off?
It's not that noticeable from a distance, but when you get close to it the lean is pronounced and obvious.

Warning: I am pulling all of this out of my rear, so take with a grain of salt. I would think that the temperature could possibly discolor the eyelid. I don't think that is likely though considering the relatively low temp typically used to pull apart the lights. Worst case scenario is that the eyelid would burst into flames, but I would think that is highly unlikely. I know the tilted CCFL ring would drive me nuts. So, I suggest trying it. The more likely worst case is that you will need to scrape off the eyelid and get a replacement set.
If I had a dollar for everytime I did something like that . . .

Yeah, thats what I thought. I might try the fish hook idea first, just to test the water, ha.

you can buy pick tools at most hardware stores. there should be one that would fit you application. Also, there are syringes you can buy with curved "needles" to apply more epoxy to re-secure the angel eye.
That's what I would do.
On the other hand, I asked recently about adding angel eyes to my headlights that already have eyebrows from lsk installed. I was informed that it would not harm the eyebrows to put the assembly in the oven again.

Pete, are your eyelids the molded plastic, because mine are just vynil laid on.
Great idea with the curved needle for epoxy. Will probably go that route.

Mine are polyurethane from lskoncepts. They are thicker than just a "sticker."

I hope it works, that damn CCFL ring being out of alignment bugs the hell out of me. As soon as I got the front end looking 'decent' I mess those things up.

Tried it and it held. Then, Ike. F Ike. We got a good deal of rain from it, and apparently I didn't seal the pass headlight as well as the drivers and it got water it in and the ring fell again.
To hell with it. Im just gonna have to open it up and apply the adhesive directly and reseal it, again. Oh well, maybe I'll clear the corners while Im in there.

According to Wikipedia the melting point of vynil is 80*C or 176*F. Is 150*F enough to loosen the sealent?
