i am in nj, so i am more worried about nj but any info from anyones exp would be great... it lifts to full hieght, i was just wondering after a few minutes my check air ride message comes on, can they fail you for that?

dont know ask the inspection tester. over here in nyc any car that has obd2 that has a cel on you fail on the spot. but not with obd1

They'll fail you for what ever they want to fail you for up there. I got the hell out of that socialist state...no inspection here in SC. They once tried to fail me for the SEAT in my T-bird.
Said it didn't lock into place, the seat back. When I started getting loud the mgr. came
out, looked and said his wife had the same car, the seat was OK and to pass me!!!
Had to buy a sticker every year from a buddy who owned a garage for my old Vette.

I didn't wanna be the first to say it but that's how I did mine. It will pass now anyway but wouldn't have then.

well its not that easy anymore and if the inspector gets caught its much worse on them now then years ago, i did the same thing when i had my 85 mustang gt in massachusetts with off road exhaust and no cats, huge no no in mass, but my buddy would run his cougar through the test and give me the sticker for my mustang, if that was done now and i got yanked, he'd be in jail and lose his shop and license as an inspection station.
if the air ride is working and the car is up to height and not draggin on the ground i highly doubt they will fail you. if the car was to fall down while doing the inspection obviously they would probably fail you, but if the car is up, and isnt leaking, who cares what the screen says, just hit reset when you let them get in it!!!

Next time I'm up for inspection I'll do it legally. I did it the other way because visually it probably would've failed (no horn, door panels, was purple and primer, and it was going to need tires soon) at that time I still had mufflers and wasn't getting and check engine lights so I would've passed that?

first of all.

turn off your air ride before ever giving it to a shop,(any shop, other than getting an alignment)
i never leave it on when i take my car for inspection,
they jack it up and forget or dont know about air ride, thats not good,
just pull in the lot and pop the trunk, flip the switch off.

all you will have is an Air ride switch off message, you can tell them any number of reasons why you have it off,but most likely they will never even question it.

You poor guys. That sucks you have to go through all of that. No inspection here, just an emissions test.

Then again maybe it's a good thing, you should see some of the crap that drives down the road! LOL

We don't have inspections or emissions, or anything like that.

neither do we, but that isnt something to brag about, like mentioned a few posts up, you should see some of the death's waiting to happen down here.
