Car cranks then shuts off

97 Lincoln starts up then cuts off but not all the time. When it cuts I have to turn it back on and gas it up then put it in reverse, back out of a spot put in drive and she's fine. I don't get it

Does it shut off right after it starts? I would guess a sticky IAC valve.

ya right after it starts

Yep, just go get ya a new IAC valve (w/new gasket), or your can try cleaning it (don't rip gasket). Shouldn't happen again.
