I own a 1999 Lincoln Continental, V8, FWD Auto. The problem I have is this, the car is jerking on acceleration. It first started when I was climbing a hill and accelerating. Now it's doing it on flat road surfaces as well. By jerking I mean, it's almost like a miss, but it's not a engine miss. There are no codes showing up at all. It's almost as if a wheel suddenly hit a grease spot in the road. that's kind of what if feels like while driving. It' sporadic, not steady, but occurs sometimes as much as a dozen times in one minute while accelerating. I'm thinking it may be transmission related, but have never run into this before. Anyone can help please?
Also on two different occasions, similiar circumstances, we drove for over two and half hours, highway (55+mph). The trans fluid (mercon5) came pouring out of the transmission from under the car. Let the car cool down completely, refilled it to proper level again and all is fine. Doesn't leak a drop. It's almost like it boiled over or something on these long trips.
