kenwood + ipod problem

Hey guys, for those of you that have ipod cables and ipods connected, have you ever had an issue with the display not showing up? I mean, on my audio source menu, I can see the song title, and I get sound, but I can't see the proper display (should be the same as the ipod screen). Can anyone help me with this? Here's the specs:

Head Unit: Kenwood Excelon DDX 7015
Ipod cable: Kenwood KCA IP500
Ipod: Brand new, purchased today, 80gig Ipod classic. Software version 1.1.2

What I was thinking was that I may have to downgrade the software to version 1.1.1 since this is apple's new ipod, 6th gen I believe, and it came out after the ipod cable. I'm kinda pissed that I might've just wasted 300 bucks. Maybe I should just return it for the nano, but I don't only want 8 gigs.

Thanks in advance, guys. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I've tried apple, and they want to blame it on the cable. I've called Kenwood, and they want to blame it on the ipod. Go figure

nevermind. after some more checking on ilounge, it looks like the fu*ker won't work because of some apple "compatibility chip" or some bullsh*t.

Going to exchange it for a nano, because it seems they don't have the stupid chip in it. After talking with other people at Kenwood, it seems apple blindsided them with that technology, and as of yet there is no upgraded cable or part.

Well... the nano doesn't work either. dammit. does anyone know how to downgrade the firmware to 1.1.1 from 1.1.2? I've googled it, saw several different ways, just wondering if anyone has tried to, and the method you used if you did. Thanks.

just going to bump this once to see if anyone missed it. I'm trying to look for a solution on ilounge and ipodwizard forums too. But I thought I remember reading a while back that another member on here downgraded his ipod.

as far as i know the only kenwoods that will work with the current ipods(classic and the nano video) are the new head units that have just a usb connection(some have a usb connection that has to be used with a 3.5 mm audio jack) i have heard that downgrading the firmware should fix it but i havent had to do it myself

honestly PEKTEL if i where you i would just buy an older IPOD off of ebay and save some money, they seem to have less of a compatibility problem with any accesories. not to mention a friend of mine just bought a old 60 gig for like 70-80 bucks because the battery would not hold a charge any more, and the only time he uses it is when it is connected to the computer to add more music or connected to his AVIC in his truck and the radio powers it.

I thought that I should do that too, but I figure it's only a matter of time before I can dowgrade this one. I went and exchanged it AGAIN for the classic, since the nano doesn't have near enough memory. I'm still going to buy an older ipod off of ebay to use in the car, and probably just give this one to my girlfriend to use until I there is a way to downgrade the 6G ipod classic.

Thanks for the response, but I've already returned the ipod classic on sunday to exchange it for the nano (since kenwood told me there is no issue with the nano and the cable I have), then yesterday re-exchanged it for the classic again.

My fix as of now? I bought and AV cable, and used the video in on the back of my kenwood instead. I dont' get the actual screen display (like the cover art, playlist, etc.) I have to run all that from the ipod. But now when can get video through for photos and videos. I'm calling it good for now I think....
