Front struts dropping.

Well they are dammit. They are used and made by arnott. I put them in about a month ago and they started leaking right away. 1 was leaking from the top rubber bushing When jacked up only allowing all the air to come out, i fixed that. I did the soap/ water trick and there were no bubbles. When i installed this set i used new #35 orings and the solonoid apears to be sealed.

Am i missing something?

Worst case scenareo is that i'll just put my oem right back on and by a drivers side of ebay. the old one was seized

Well buying Arnott fronts is one thing, buying them used is not a good idea. Sorry dude.

Check out americanairsuspension.com for refurbs. Good prices and stands behind product 110%.

well when i was deciding if i wanted to convert or stay with air a deal on cl came up. For 325 i got the fronts ,rears , 4 solonoids and 3 height sensors. They were manufacrured in late 06. I didnt think that 1.5 year old bags would start to leak. If this is the case ARNOTT is complete CRAP. The seller warned me that 1 was leaking but that it was probably a bad o ring. LOL

Yes, Arnott is mostly crap. I say that because the fronts suck a lot but the solenoids, the compressors and the rear bags are not bad at all.

American air sells Arnotts. I have Aronott fronts & they works great. 3 1/2 years old.

I bought a set of Arnotts air spring/shock assemblies for my '96 Mark. They had a 1 year warranty. They started leaking 14 months after I bought them. I then got a used set from a '98 off ebay and they have been fine for four years. Arnott is junk.

arnott front struts are just re-bagged used struts. they could have 150,000 miles on them and a new air bladder and then go on your car. who wants a strut on their car that could have that many miles on it? arnott struts blow i dont even like to sell them to people when i get them in just because i know them. they are even on my green 93 and the ride like dog crap and they are noisy. i would drive a mark slammed on the ground before i would actually buy arnott front struts.

So...for those of us looking into the future at purchasing airbags, do we order them from Eddie with American Air and does it have written on them that they're Arnott bags?

I like all the good I've heard about American Air from most on this site, and have persuaded my dad to purchase bags, air compressor and dryer for his '97 Grand Marquis from American Air. He hasn't installed everything yet, but I'm optimistic that they'll be ok.

Just wondering...

I think American only sold Arnott for a short time, if he did. I know he sells their solenoids with them and such. Most of the ones he sold either he rebuilt or they were done by Suncore at one time.

Having just bought 2 new fronts from Eddie at American air just 2 weeks ago.

They do say Arnott on them.

Talking with Eddie there is a newer design and that is what I have. The look different at the top stud. There is a silver cover. [looks to be alum?] on the top that Eddie told me is another seal.

yea. I had a leak there with 1 of the arnotts i picked up. I guess the rubber bushing up there cracks often. I gooped mine up and its all good now. Funny , i made a thread about the exact idea (metal cover over the bolt) and jamie97lsc laughed at me and said it wouldnt work..haha

OK here's the story the Eddie @ American Air told me on the phone when I ordered.

He said that the struts were being assy. overseas in the past and there were problems with them leaking. He told me he wouldn't sell them due to a inferior part.

then he told me that they were being "Made" overseas and the assy. work was being done here in the US and that they had added this alum cap. He said that they have been doing well.

This pix is of a Arnotts replacement [date 10/10/05]

Here is the replacement installed.

The ones I replaced had dates of 10/10/05 & 7/23/05. They were fine, but I did a Dumb A$$ thing and put a wrench on the top stud. The Factory manual says Don't Do That! Of corse I read that after the fact. Dee Da Dee!

Posted by: unity

Why would you put a wrench on it anyway? Is that why it twisted?

Posted by: warthog5

Well as I said it was a Dumb A$$ move while rebuilding the front end.

I had removed the other 3 nuts and the strut didn't move.

With this being my 1st Lincoln and dealing with air struts.
