Lug nuts

So I've read here that the Chrysler Sebring Lugs are the way to go. I'm wondering if these just work for stock wheels or also aftermarket. I'm looking to get some aftermarket wheels, but I will also be running my stock ones during the winter months. If the Sebring Lugs only work for stock, what are some good quality aftermarket lugs???

I'm also having problems with the stock lugs not wanting to come off. They spin, but they won't unthread. Anyone have any ideas how to get them off???

towards the end of that thread i put up a link to some lugs i'm considering but still haven't fully verified that they will work on the LS. i also have after market wheels and the washer on the OEM lugs will not fit. the sebring lugs are the same i believe, just better quality

I had a flat the othed day and my stock tire iron wouldn't take off some of the lug nuts. I called Tripple A, and they couldn't get them off either. Had to have the car towed, I guess I will have to replace them all. What's up with this. Are there better ones that won't do this? Is their a better place to buy them than the dealer, whom I'm sure will want $8-10 bucks each.

I've had the pleasure of having to deal with these wonderful tin covered lug nuts as well. NOT!!! I first ran into this problem when I notice how difficult it was to slide the lug wrench over the lug nuts when changing a flat in my garage. I ordered new lugs nuts and started to replaced the lug nuts with the replacements. I too ran into the same problem that Mussolini did, a couple of the lug nuts were too far gone and the lug wrench would just round off the nuts. My solution to this was to find a socket that was just a little smaller than would easily fit on the lug nut. I then used a hammer to pound the socket on to the lug nut, then I connected the socket to my ½ inch breaker bar and just twisted the remaining two lug nuts off. The socket was damaged in the process but those are cheap. Not the most elegant solution, but it worked!

I've done the socket/hammer trick, but I at least one lug nut that just literally spins. It won't come off. I'm trying to figure out how to get it off. Maybe a hammer and chisel to just break it in half. Anyone else have any better ideas???

You can also use a flat head screwdriver and a hammer to peel these crappy aluminum nut covers off. Then you can get a socket on the actual lug nut that is underneath. (I can't recall which size it is...maybe a 19mm?)

stock lugs are 20mm. I hammered a 19mm on to 2 of mine that were stripped. Replaced with the Sebring ones. A lot better quality, but are 21mm, so you'll need to switch out your wrench in the trunk. I jsut put a breaker bar with 19, 20, and 21mm impact sockets back there, since I still have the stock lugs on the rear wheels.

I've never ordered aftermarket wheels before, but shouldn't they come with some spline drive lugs? It might be worth the extra few bucks to just get a set of those with the aftermarket wheels.

Ok I think everyone is missing my question about a couple lug nuts just spinning. It's the actual lug nut just spinning on the bolt, not the socket spinning on the lug nut. The lug nut will not unthread. Has anyone encountered this specific problem???

you might have to take that to a mechanic. it sounds like it's going to take some amount of knowledge and prior experience to properly do this
