Gen1 Gen 2 Mark VIII Mix

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Check out this 1998 Mark with a Gen 1 front end on it.

LINK

Posted by: Hammerdinz

That actually does look good, I always liked the gen 1 front end but not the gen 1 rear end, but I liked to rear end of the gen 2 but not so much of the front end.. But he downgraded his headlights and vision at night..

Posted by: MarkVIII93

I'll put money on it having a salvage title. Lol Does'nt look too bad though if I do say so myself.

Posted by: 94m5

I'll be there soon.

I'm converting the rear of my 94 to a gen 2 rear.

Posted by: GMAN

It has a clear title.

Wont that require some cutting?

Posted by: Hammerdinz

Yeah it will.

Posted by: Staffamerica74

Instead of hoods i wish someone would make a mean looking front bumper cover for a gen 2... sorta as if someone incorperated a 96-98 cobra fog lights and instead of going under it comes straight down.

Clear title? Ok... sure....

Mine has a clear title too. No joke, but...

1: Before I bought it, it had been broken into and taken on a joy ride. The driver's side door has been damaged and the trunk locked removed.

2: After I purchased it I was involved in a multi-car pile up. I lifted a cop car onto my hood. Got some NEW headlights though!!!!

3: Hit that big puddle that resulted in hydro-locking my engine. Car was bought back by me as salvage. NEW engine though!!!!

4: Parked in alley and hit by some drunk ass. Did enough damage to total car - again. Bought back as salvaged. NEW OEM front struts and all SORTS of goodies with insurance money!

But my title remains clear. Go figure.

how much cutting will have to be done?

Posted by: jamie97lsc

that right there is just someones cheap ass way of fixing a front end crash. the gen 2 nose is so costly to buy and replace, the gen one nose is pennies on the dollar, so , they took a nice gen two that was wrecked and slapped on a gen 1 nose to sell it. it may have a clean title so what, point is the car was wrecked, any car thats wrecked can have a clean title if you fix it yourself and not put in a claim with the insurance company, i crashed my 98 too but carfax will never show it becuase i fixed it myself out of my pocket, thats why car fax isnt as great as everyone makes it out to be, carfax is a 50/50 gamble, it doesnt tell you everything. i personally think the car looks like garbage, its only my opinion but i dont believe is mixing gen 1 and gen 2 bodies together, either you want a gen 1 or a gen 2, mixing them up to me looks hideous.

and the interior is not Tan/saddle on this Torredor red.. hmm i thought they all had tan , not gray.. Whats up with this thing?

Posted by: htrdlincoln98

Is that true the interior is always tan with that color. Mines not, got black. Think it was an under cover car with all the extra computer connections under rear seat and 12 gauge whole in the side. I saved that and hung on the garage wall. Maybe thats why the leathers so new

Posted by: k9t8m

You could get black interior with that color. Ive even seen white, not many of those around though.

Posted by: The Rev

thats fugly.

Posted by: Abbens

why are they selling it for so much with those miles on it?

Posted by: unity

Well its got all those fancy mods.

Other than the fact it looks like a pile, its not that bad of deal with a little clean up.

Posted by: kustomizingkid

I was contemplating doing it with the 97 I bought but the front end was wrecked a little too hard, would've cost too much to fix the frame.

Posted by: jamie97lsc

toreador red 97 or 98 marks came in prairie tan, light graphite, or ebony, or midnight black interior, they didnt only come tan, my father in law's toreador red 97 lsc was lt graphite.

There was that guy that had that customized frontbumper from a grand am on markviii.org, he was thinking about getting some molds made and mass producing his custom bumper for sale but I dont think he did it.

Posted by: jamie97lsc

his name is lee, he's a body man by trade. its actually a base model 97, redone to look like an lsc. and dont ask where he got the hood, he made it himself it was not bought somewhere.

Posted by: 93' Blue on blue

He did a great job on that gen 2. Car looks great! (the black one, that is)

Posted by: Staffamerica74

See what I mean tho, all we need is a front bumper cover and the gen 2 looks as mean as hell. I think we should try and talk to him and get him some money.

Posted by: Rich88LSC

I've seen that black car before. Looks sick! I would love a front bumper like that.

Posted by: Roadboss

That car really does look sweet !!!

Posted by: htrdlincoln98

Thats the nicest gen 2 I've seen yet. Is the hood and bumper fiberglass. If he's got a mold for that he could make some serious scratch sellin that package. Sign me up!

Posted by: jamie97lsc

no he doesnt have a mold if he did he would be rich, its hand made, stock aluminum hood with a fiberglass scoop hand made and bonded to the hood. the front bumper also no mold, the top half is the stock mark bumper, the bottom half he blended the bottom of a grand am bumper to the mark bumper. its all done by hand, no molds, and i seriously doubt with his scedule you will get him to produce more, unless someone tosses him some serious green!!! he has a ton of hours into it, he even hand made a small wing for the rear trunk lid too. the rims are a 19-20 combo and he had to do a ton of hoggin out in the suspension bolts to get the car to align correctly again. thing is sick looking.

Posted by: poniesviii

back to the main subject, the gen1 front would look better had they purchased an LSC bumper cover, that chrome is way out of place. I still don't think it'd look right, unless they used the non LSC rear trim.

Posted by: GMAN

One thing is for sure, we know it can be done. Probably the same can be done with a Gen 2 front end on a Gen1.
