Backup camera for 97 Conti

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a 1997 Conti. I have always been very good at backing up and parking but I have found with this car I can't see any part of my car out of the back window. All that is visible is the back dashboard. It makes it difficult to back into a parking space that has one of those yellow posts at the back. What would be the best (not necessarily the most expensive) and most unobtrusive backup camer to get?

I can understand that you'd have trouble.. I have the same car and its pretty much impossible to see anything past the hump in the middle of the back seats. My parents got some sort of camera system at a hardware/automotive center for a low price.. just haven't installed it. I think that the side mirrors are the most useful for seeing how far you are from something.

I use my side mirrors all the time but they don't show what's directly in back of my car. I use the handicapped parking spaces and they always have one of those yellow posts. I can never tell how close the back end of the car is to the post so I thought a camera would help.

You can also get one of the backup sensor systems with 2 or 4 sensors similar to the standard ones on many new cars. I've seen them on ebay and alot of car audio stores, best buy circuit city etc... carry them. They can be either mounted on or recessed in the bumper as they would be if orig equipment.

Thanks for the suggestions. I found one online from etronics. Its made by Vialta. I liked it because it can be wired directly to the car and I don't have to have a wire hanging down to the cigarette lighter. It was only $79.00 and I have somebody that will install it for $100.00.
