Temperature Questions

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

What is the stock operating temp. for the 3.9L's to run at? Does around 220 sound too high?

Also, under normal driving conditions, when should i be worried about the trans. overheating, it seems to stay around 170 degrees (+/- 20), and that seems a little high to me. (but i have no experience with these cars)

Thanks,

Tyler

The thermostat is fully open at 219 F so 220 F is about right. I have been amazed at how steady my engine temp stays even at 108 degrees summers in town traffic.

I could not find any reference to trans operating temp.

If you have a Sport LS you have both trans and oil cooler.
