No, I wasn't charged for part or paint. Invoice on it was about $450.00. LSK might have it cheaper if you are interested.

My Car is pearl white, so i dont think it would look nice with all white instead of chrome. but if i had a different color i would def. do this. does your friend get discounts on headlights or does he have any used in good condition dat he will be willing to sell? some stupid truck was trowing rocks and broke my passenger headlight.

Nah, he can't swing those. I tried to get some new headlights because the clear glossy coat is coming off the top of my headlights. They are $500.00 a headlight if they are HID's and I am not paying that.

lol Tell Me about it, i went to kragen, and their all like $325 for one!! its craazy! i'm thinking of going to a pick-n-pull! hopefully i get lucky and the Ls they have was crashed anywere except the front!

This is how these cars SHOULD have come from the factory!!

I just sent mine back to get re-shot since the paint on it was bubbling. Can't wait to get that chrome crap off my car!!

I painted my rear surround myself when I did the WW kit.
Took it off the car and sanded it with 320 sandpaper and used a single stage 2k type shiny drying polyurethane from an auto paint supply.
Only took a few ounces of paint for the surround out of the quart I used for the WW kit.

Looks good man. Can't wait to see some real pics though.

Posted by: King03LS8

I'll bust out my Canon here one day and get some good pics up of the whole car.

Posted by: HyeLifeLS

Looks cool, mine is done too already and I love it.

Posted by: tonyd

This looks awsome!

so i need to;

remove surround
sand with 500, 1000 grit
primer
paint
clear

sound right?

Posted by: 04SCTLS

Remove surround
I sanded with 320
Tape off the black plastic and everything not chrome.
Prime, sand lightly w 320 or higher
I used a 2k paint that doesn't need clear
because I was painting my WW kit too
and didn't want to do polishing of the clear.

Posted by: NYC LS8

Use etching primer on it definitely

Posted by: TDUB

I'm thinking about doing this on my pearl white LS any opinions?

Posted by: NYC LS8

Do it.

Posted by: pektel

I have a surround that I just sanded. Getting the rest of the paint from the body shop (free) early next week. I have an airbrush lined up. Going to tackle it myself. Same color as your's, tdub.

I'm going to do the rear surround and the grille to match the car.

Posted by: lincoln00

has anyone tried painting the chrome surround... its just plastic so i think you would just have to sand past the chrome

Posted by: pektel

Yeah that's what a lot of members do. Check out the tech article from lskoncepts. Click on "license plate surround painting front":

Those look nice. I don't think it would look very good on a black car unless you did all the chrome.

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but has anyone had the Lincoln emblem part of that surround separate from the deck lid? How did you fix it?

That problem with the surround is a bolt that breaks away from the surround. I used epoxy and only snugged the nut. Working so far. The different surround I bought to do this was missing that bolt already. I didn't know that when I bought it, but I'll have to figure something out.

I have a Chrome rear surround for sale for 2003-2006 LS if anyone wants to try and paint that. Here is the link to it in the for sale section.

+1 to everyone deleting their chrome. I have a sport (no chrome except grille surround) and it just rocks. Other LS' look nice too, but they are way sexier without the chrome bumper/rear surround pieces.

Posted by: babbster

whats the website where you can get a color matched spray can of paint? using your color code

Posted by: NYC LS8

Paintscratch.com

I didn't figure it was a bolt or a stud. I'll have to take it apart and look into that.

Thanks
