Hey guys,

I'm requesting that you pick one favorite picture of your car slammed with the "Ray Switch" and post it here. New "Ray Switch" owners or old owners it doesn't matter. We want to see those cars slammed!

Thanks everyone!

I know I couldn.t mentally it would be too upsetting , or physically do it my self (my son helped me before & he hardly speaks to me now )
and this is my wifes car she is a pain in the ass she just thinks I do stupid things

Bump, Come on guys, I know there are more of you out there, let's see those pictures!

Posted by: Ray's family

Okay, here's Barney finally lowered. This is for Ray. We love ya son.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Ok guys

Here are the pics, I resized them and posted them for Ray's Family. I must say the car looks sharp. It's nice to see Barney finally lowered. Thanks to mespock for providing the replacement rear solenoids, they seem to have done the trick!

Posted by: Rich88LSC

Barney came out great!

Posted by: Lux

I got my kit friday, installed it yesterday, here is the finished result.

I let the music blast for ray as it was dropping.

He'll never be forgotten as marks are still dropping across the country.

And I'll do my best to keep them dropping, just for him!

Posted by: Lux

Cheers.

Thanks again adam, i have a few suggestions though. Somewhere in the directions you should include the tools needed (a small china man or two would come in handy for getting to the wires in the back) everything else was straight foward.

I messed up two of the T-Taps so i had to run and get some more. That was burried, it probably woulda been a hell of a lot easier had i removed the seat, but forget all that.

Its nice when it drops on the first try the first time, only thing is it takes two cycles for the rear to come down, sometimes three, i'm going to do some more stuff to the air system so i'll work on fixing that.

Also, you said remove the fuse if you do work on it, what if you remove the switch?

Last night i must of bumped the toggle and my front came down at about 30 miles an hour, not cool. So i'm thinking maybe i can just disconnect the switch instead of the fuse (since the fuse is burried)

What do you think? Would it do the same thing? I'm not familiar with the particular schematics of the switch, just what it does and how to put it in.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

You could just splice a toggle switch in between the center lead on the back of the switch. Like the image shown below.

Not to mention, how kick a$$ would it be to have that sweet nitrous switch mounted on the dash, it would make somebody think you had something.

Posted by: Lux

Would that do the same thing as removing the fuse?

If i wired a switch to the switch, could i disconnect the battery and reconnect and the system wouldnt recognize the ray switch was tehre.

Assuming both were in the off position?

(i actually have one of those switches my buddy yanked from advanced and gave to me, brand new in the package) OH SWEET

hahahaha

No, removing the fuse, removes the power from the "Ray Switch", adding that toggle switch would just not allow you to trigger the system to drop or to reset. It basically would just keep you from accidentally lowering the car.

Are you asking if you could drop the car, then pull the battery cable and then hook it back up, to get the "check air ride message" to go away?

If that is what you are asking, then no. The "Ray Switch" allows you to drop the car, whether it is running or not. If the car is dropped and then turned off, or if the car is off and dropped. Once you start the car the air ride system will resume it's normal functionality.

This works the same way if you press the switch the opposite way, the air ride system just believes that the car was just started and runs through it's checks to inflate the bags.

If you wanted, you could wire the switch in place of the fuse, but I would definitely add an inline fuse in there if you choose to do so. Remember the fuse is there in case of a short. But if you're just looking to keep from accidentally dropping the car, wiring the switch like above will work.

xtra tip for those who drop the car while park..only the back. if you get 89 tbird shocks which are longer then mk8;s it will sit lower

Posted by: isaiah3g

and now i have another thing to buy that i "need" :-P

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

what is the need that you are referring to?

Posted by: Icedphoenix

would have gone out and taken a better picture but the switch is acting up it just transfers the air from the front bags to the rear looks kinda funny with its butt in the air 5 feet. wish i could have meet him seems like he would have been someone my life would have been richer just from meeting him.

It's not messed up, it's a matter of a big heavy V8 is going to apply more pressure and force air out through the vent solenoid and back to the rear at the same time, if the vent solenoid were larger it might be able to empty the air more evenly. Either that or your vent solenoid is acting up.

Posted by: Icedphoenix

the air ride acts fine off the switch on the switch no matter how many times the switch is tripped it wont let the back come down i talked with kracker and we both agree that its transferring the air and it stays in the rear bags just dont know what part of the switch opens the vent the vent is opening normally like when i close the doors on the highway etc just does not open with the switch tripped

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

I would have to look on my instructions again but I believe it was Pin 30, a pinkish wire that runs the vent solenoid, make sure that spade has a good connection, the spades have a tendency to not insert into the t-taps and shoot to the outside sometimes.

Posted by: isaiah3g

those shocks! I "need" them now. Go low or go home, right?

my back goes down alot will it work on the front so it will go as low as the back is the big question

Posted by: isaiah3g

yeah my rear end sits lower than my front.
I have another set of front end struts, and I love working on my car...I fix things that arent broke. lol I want to take the other set (one leaks bad) and go internal and take the bump stops out and cruise on over to a few shows, that way the front end sits lower. Just an idea, prob will never do it though. I'll have to face the problem of exposing more leaks.

Posted by: isaiah3g

well, exposing cracks that lead to bad leaks.

Posted by: Icedphoenix

all part of making it look SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem with mine. Its been like that for me since Iday 1. For me to get the back to go down I have to hit the switch literally 20 times for it to fully go all the way down.

Posted by: isaiah3g

new bags on the car! bigger cracks too. Guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new drivers side assembly. crap.

jump on the back when you hit the switch,

Ive done that allready. It still dont work. Like i said before, if I hit the switch about 20 times it lows on the ground.

Posted by: chicken

how you venting jason? stock vent system could be gunked up, even poss with a spidervalve, mine got all funky, cleaned and was fine. try removing all the airlines from the dryer on the compressor then hit the switch (READ: put jack under pass front of car so you can lift it back up to put the lines back in) if you have a spidervalve just take the vent off and hit the switch

I didnot know ray but he must of been a hell of a member, everybody loves him,god bless you ray

Took my boy fishing this past week, turned and looked back at the car after we parked.. and thought to myself.. "Tribute to Ray pic".

Yea, it's a Base, and has a soft top. It is what it is.

Car was not lowered when we parked, nor is it clean.. didn't intend of taking pics at all. It just happened. Made me wish I had brought my DSLR camera.. It just didn't make sense to bring it on a short fishing trip geared to just make the kid happy. lol

Again, the top will come off soon.. Just not yet, not right now beacuse of money situation. It's starting to show minimal wear, but not enough to bug me. Hope she holds off for a year or 4.

She's as stock as the day my old man bought her.. down to the tint.. which i might add, is starting to bubble.

I'd sure like to replace those damn mouldings though.. Can't stand the look of them. If anyone has some LSC mouldings, holler at me please.

Anyway, Thanks to Adam for the switch.. and everyone else on LVC for all the other stuff I don't know jack about to get her running right... and other things to come. My hat goes off to everyone.

Since Ray's Brother and I are having the same issue, (rear won't vent) I did a sensor lower on the rear.. and use the switch on the fronts. Will get to the sensor lowering for the front soon enough. I don't drive with the Air on anymore, I raise it to the sensor max, and drop the fronts to match the rear. Perfect.

By the way, Air Ride FTW!!!

at least until the damn thing completely fails me. lol!
