Little O/T: Anyone Into Hot Rods?

Not trying to change the views of those on this forum, but is anyone into real traditional hot rods? Not fiberglass trailer queens, not hazardous rat rods that have no ingenuity or muscle cars. REAL 20-50's hot rods or customs? I hope I'm not the only one.

Thats my real baby, no Mark VIII or anything can take me away from that.

Yeah that's the TRUE $hit!! Love it to death, old school and nostalgia is my bag 100% I love the Marks and all but it's a whole different WORLD from these two eras.

me and my buddy restorem and his grandfather does all the electrical nd sweeeet interiors, hes been doin it for sooooooo long and hes gettin up there and knockinem out like ......... crazy!!!

I think its good to keep our history alive and some of those cars are bad arse but its time for new school and its our time or our kids time to decide the new hot rods so to speak, but old school still needs to instill some of those old school values in the new school because thats what its all about. Lot of old muscle mixed with some new with a new face.

It's a 49, the reason for no vent windows in the rear, is its the club coupe, its the loooooooooonnnnnggggggg roof. After I lowered it about three inches, the thing looks like a land yacht. Good to know other people are into it as well.

Just found some more pictures on my computer, There is a story behind the car.

My grand-father always loved Shoebox Fords and He was raised in Ohio. He read an ad about a 1949 Ford from Ohio, so my grand-father, my dad and my uncle Mike set out to Ohio to visit some family we had up there and purchase the car. When signing it over, the old woman signing the paper said, Richard Barba, that name sounds familiar, "Did I teach you when you were in third grade?" They found out that they then bought the car from my Grand-fathers third grade teacher. They brought the car back, and cleaned it up, and he drove it every day. He would pick me up every morning, and take me around town. When he passed away when I was three years old, he left me the car in his will.

I didn't start driving it until I was 18, drove it for a couple of months, and the second cylinder piston literally, blew apart in the cylinder wall, leaving all that cast iron in my oil pan. I pulled the flathead six, and scored a free flathead 8 from my cousin Mikey, (Uncle Mike's Son) It still has a few things needing to be ironed out, but it should be cruising around town by the end of spring. The motor has great compression, I just had the carburetor rebuilt, headers, two glass packs all the way up front, new EZ Wiring kit, and all other little goodies. I just saw the nose and tail of one of those grafted onto a mn10 tbird. It was parked on my gf's block. I had to back up to look again cause it didnt look right when I passed it the first time.

Thats a kit that a company makes, it's insanely ugly if ya ask me, The thunderbird is a poor base for the kit too.

When my 2nd bro got married early eightys

My dads 40 ford sbc turbo 400 nine inch rear "car is still in family", my bros 59 "yuk"

,dads 39 ford all stock and long gone, dads 49 ford vert...all stock and found on road dead too many times to count and also long gone.

The 53 was one of my all time favorite cars, it got all smashed to hell before I could buy it from the old man.
