Air Ride And Ford Shop

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Took the car to my local Ford and Lincoln dealer to have the Air Ride checked $40.00

The 95 Mark VIII air bags are up to high (air bags OK)
they said the brain that controls them is bad. (Brain ??)
will take $700.00 to fix it. $450.00 parts and $250.00 labor.

Would be cheaper for me to do away with with the air ride.

Well you can get the brain for about $25... I believe it's two screws and unplug it.

But I'll do it for you for $500...

Were And where is it located at.?

I have them a few spares I have picked up. Took some out of a few cars.

You can get them off eBay also.

I'd check with Max at 5 Star Ford on the price the guy shot you.

Ford Says it a ( Air Suspension Module) thats all they could find wrong with air ride.

Well Know what it looks like and not sure but I thank its got to be under that dash Somewhere. I'll find it even if I have to use a CHAINSAW.

Will a 1997 work on a 1995?

Its located behind the passenger side kick panel. Has a black and a gray connector going into it. Find a member close by and try their module in yours, just incase the module isn't the problem.

I think they are interchangeable from year to year, but couldn't say for certain.

Does it give you a "check air-ride" message? Could the rear height sensor have popped off?

Let trouble shoot first, may be something simple. I dont trust shops unless Chicken is working there! lol

I agree with the above.

Solid state hardware doesn't fail much. It's probably something else.

Yes the light comes on. You can push the reset and it will go off for maybe 2 or 3 hours then come back on. Ford did pull the left rear wheel off and check under there then he was checking under the hood also. Would not let us into the shop. But we did see him do that from outside. Said everything checked good except. eec test-air suspension module.

Go coils and forget about your suspension. I did and I haven't ever regretted it.

awwwwww aint i special
and at least Glorywagon is taking the right approach it seems so many scrap a good air suspension for the coils, i do see the upside to coils, unless it breaks a coil it ok, but the air ride is one of my favorite features on my markviii

I bought a suspension module from Jamie Very reasonable.

good chioce.

IMHO every mark 8 owner owes it to themselves to have 1 FULL run with a working air ride system...before tossing in the towel for coils.

I got 200K out of my original air ride (bags etc)
Right AT 200K later I had one leaking bag.. but never got to replace it before the car was stolen.

+1 for keeping air ride!

Here is a picture for reference, it's the black box in the middle of the picture. It has the gray and black connector. White label with red stripe, part no. F7LF-3B494-AA. Hopefully you don't have to pull the dash out to get to it, but I really can't say for sure.

I can even do you one better. Here are the removal instructions, follow the link, verify the image, download the file. http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.ph...r&file=SCM.pdf
