Replacing brakes

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Any companies to stay away from. I am replacing all 4 rotors, and pads. I want drilled and slotted, and stock size.

With a Mark, I suggest you install "lifetime guarantee" rotors. That way when they warp you can replace them free. To help prevent warpage, review the brake run in proceedures in the tech info, and torque the lug nuts properly.

I would stay away from drilled for our cars as they only produce more area for rust collection. Slotted are OK but I have never seen the real benefit to them, but then again I am usually easy on brakes. Bendix is a premium OE brand on our cars and I know you can get those with the slots milled in them, but I am sure your local supplier will need to order them from the warehouse.

I would also get the Bendix Ceramix pads as well and be sure that you do the proper break in procedure as mentioned above

Everyone agree with the above advice? What brands have you used? Good, bad? Im looing at brake performance .com or KVR. The brake performance are lifetime warranty slotted and dimpled, the KVR I cant find any warranty info on, but supercoupeperformance sells, and they report no problems with warpage or cracking.

Ford OEM rotors & pads for me. My neighbor got some of those R-1 concepts rotors/pads for his 04 cobra. Those things warped in no time. I have never had a good experience with the cheap chinese units fron autozone either.

Just my oppinion. Good luck!

I have had good luck with Auto Zone pads, the lifetime ones, on my Montero Sport. Got about 60,000 on the last set, pulled them off AZ replaced them for free.
I have not used any of their other brake hardware, so I have no idea how it performs, but go with a name brand.

Performance friction pads beat anything I've used. You can get em at Auto Zone, don't get all the brake dust I've gotten from other name brands and stop on a dime.

My R-1s (drilled and slotted) just started to get a bit of rust on the perimeters. Took a bout 40K and 2+ years. I hit couple nasty mountain roads once every couple of months and wanted the extra cooling.

No warpage - but I am always checking the torque specs, especially any time I have the tires off, even during State Safety inspections and tire replacement ...especially after tire replacement.

Ditto on R1 Concepts rotors. I have drilled and slotted.

R1 wins my business. Thanks to those that have posted. I also talked to two other owners who have the same report of the R1's
