You know the sound big knobby truck tires make when turning or just driving on the highway? Well my drivers side front wheel makes that sound when turning left. I at first thought it might be my snow tires I had on, but after putting my stock wheels and tires back on, it's still doing it. Any ideas what it might be? Only when turning left, only from my left front wheel.

I would first check the wheel bearing. Lift up the problematic wheel and see if it has any lateral play. Push on the sidewall and if it wobbles... odds are it's the bearing. Secondly, also check your rotor. If you see any odd wear marks on there, it could also be that your caliper is rubbing on your rotor. That was happening to my car when the bearing gave way.
My second guess would be the lower ball joint. There's a member by the name of euromarque that is selling lower ball joints at a great price. I know I'm going to need to replace mine soon.

Lower ball joints would be more of a snap or pop/cluncking noise.
I bet its the bearing.

Thanks, the bearing is what i kinda thought it might be. But wouldn't it make the noise turning either direction then? Thats what got me confused. Are bearings for this car expensive like everything else?

I replaced one of my front bearings ( driver ) about a month ago to the tune of 160 bucks for the part from the dealer with ABS sensor. I think some guy on ebay has 'em for 94 w/o the abs sensor and 117 with it. Shipping is variable but to where I'm at it's about 12 bucks. I'd say pay the extra 20 or so bucks and get it from your dealer.

What the hell? Couldn't you before just pull a bearing out, grease a new one, and press it in? I just found this online. If my bearing is going out, can't I just replace it with this?
I just jacked up the one wheel and tried to move it left to right, and nothing. As solid as I think it's supposed to be. The lower ball joint seemed good as well. Any other thoughts???

You can usually hear the bearings making noise long before you get play in the wheel.

bearing should make noise when turning. If you turn to the right it should be the right side bearing, noise to the left should be the left bearing. I'd replace both.
Easy job... bearings shouldn't be more than $80 Take off wheel, then caliper, then one major nut holding on the hub assembly.

I ended up replacing the lower ball joints and hub assemblies for both sides all at the same time. The noise is now completely gone. I'm pretty sure it was the wheel bearing. Thanks for your help though. This site has saved me tons of money by basically telling me what is wrong with the car, and all I have to do is the labor myself.
So, a big Thank You to everyone that has helped me out in the past year. I am very glad I found this place
