2000 LS8 in my life

Hello. I am a deployed Army Reservist currently serving in SW Asia. My 20-something daughter bought her LS8 just before I left last fall, and has had continuing problems with cold-start surging and a check engine light that the dealership can not fix. O2 sensor and wiring harness replaced, about two-thirds of which we paid out of pocket (used, as-is, no warranty). Check engine light still on (intermittent) and still surging. Any suggestions?
