"Ray Switch" Now Available! Place your order here!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

READ EVERYTHING BELOW BEFORE CONTACTING ME!

Guys, I've finally finished the design on the new and improved "Ray Switch" and I'm ready to start taking orders.

The first batch is going to take a little while because I'll need to order in all the supplies to build them. I'll need a minimum of 8 orders to cover the initial costs of supplies. I don't have spare money laying around to throw into these. So, I'm doing things exactly like Ray did, see below.

"Ray Switch" Process
Step 1: You place your order and I send you my paypal information.
Step 2: You send me your money through Paypal.
Step 3: I take the money you send me and order the parts to build your kit.
Step 4: I'll notify you of when your kit is done, to get your shipping address.

As of now, (April 18, 2008), the pricing is going to be the same as Ray's price.

$42.00 per kit with a link to installation instructions
$45.00 per kit with printed color installation instructions (ink costs money)

Also, Ray had some problems with people ordering the kits and expecting them to be there in a weeks time. Understand that I am doing this in my spare time, I have a full-time job and personal things that I like to go and do. I would say that you're looking at a minimum of 2-3 week turn around, that depends on availability of parts and ordering and shipping time for the parts to get to me, plus me building the kit and then shipping the kit to you. Notice I said minimum, it may take longer.

I'm not going to put up with much grief from anyone, if you can't wait, then don't order! I can't make it any simpler than that.

Sign me up.

I'm in either way but is this the kit that we have to start the car to raise the car or the one with the switch that will kick the compressor back on. Thanks.

This kit is Ray's "Upgraded Kit", you just press the reset and the car airs itself back up as long as you're traveling under 35MPH. I will not make a kit that you have to open and close the door.

No you can drop the car and raise it back up to normal height, no trim adjustments.

Posted by: jbird97

I'm in, whats your paypal? PM it.

1 $42 kit please

Sean, I am planning on designing a kit that will give you manual control over the front and rear height, up and down on both, but it won't be as nice as the ASHAM8. The ASHAM8 gives you a display and adjusts the front and rear the same amount all at once. Mine will just allow you to drop or raise the fronts and drop or raise the rears independently. The ASHAM8 just fools the factory Suspension Control Module into thinking it's too high and the SCM vents air to lower the car or vice versa. My kit will also allow you to overfill the bags, although it would not be recommended. But like I said, I haven't started working on that design yet and it will be more expensive most likely.

Bump, come on guys, he needs 8 to pay for initial cost, where did all the people go that said they were in during the development?

well like any other run we will see....
or let me know & I will make up the difference and buy the other remaing spots just to get this run happening

Well then, you just need to buy another Mark VIII and then buy a kit from me, then you'll have an original and a new kit.

Posted by: Scorpio1118_2000

So let me get this rihgt, you can adjust the front and rear without restarting the car or doing the open/close thing with the doors?
how hard is it to install?

No, you can bleed all of the air out of the system, slams the car on the ground and then you can reset the switch and the car goes back to normal factory stance. There is no in between adjustments, but yes this is all done without opening and closing the doors.

The other kit that I'm looking at building, will allow for front and rear adjustments without opening or closing the doors, but I haven't even started working on this one yet. It is has been thought up and should work in theory. But will need to be built and then tested.

Here are some pictures of the switch to give you an idea. This is the switch that is mounted near you, the actual "Ray Switch" itself is easily concealed to the right of the glove box under the dash. I've included a pic of that location also, it's the clear box in the middle.

That makes six orders guys, I might be able to get it going with that but one more would probably help. I'll let you guys know soon.

Posted by: PIMPLINC

ohh crap do you figure this will work with the asham8??? I can't see why not....
Either way I am buying one but yeah I gots to know now

Yes, it will work in conjunction with the asham8, the asham8 just tricks the factory system into thinking it is too high or too low, the "Ray Switch", completely bypasses the factory system. But why would you need it if you have an asham8, you should be able to lower the car with the asham8. But according to my reading of the asham8 install instructions, it says that the car will not respond to adjustments made while the car is moving. I'll do some research on that though. It says that it just takes a little while for the computer to respond to the adjustments, the reset function on the "Ray Switch" may speed up the process with the asham8.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Ok guys

Here is the list as of today of people wanting kits:

Rich88LSC
98LSC32V
jbird97
Ace
PIMPLINC
htrdlincoln98
Gambler

I have a couple other members that expressed interest in one of the other posts and I have PMed them to see if they're still interested. I will wait to hear back from them and then I will contact you all to start the ordering process.

If I missed someone, PM me and let me know!

Thanks alot guys

Posted by: PIMPLINC

no the ASHAM8 does not "DROP" the car it's lowest setting is like my sig pic even adjusting the pot switches..so that is why I wanted the switch to totally vent the bags, but my asham8 reacts instantly regardless of speed doing 140 on the highway it still adjusts so I dunno!
I was getting fed up with the bags & leaks so I bought the coil conversion, but sold it and bought new struts again! just to use Ray's switch and keep the asham8, but now I noticed that it is really nice to have the air ride when I am towing the bike trailer levels out nice!

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Took a cruise tonight, out of respect if you will, first cruise since I installed the kit. RIP Ray

Posted by: chicken

looks good!!!!

Posted by: Ace

alright sounds like a good plan! Ill be here waiting for it haha. I almost got the ASHAM8 kit but realized that it did not drop it all the way and I would never need to go higher then stock so whats the sense?

Posted by: Dmaup

Well things are all good so, I'll take one. PM me with your info and I will send over payment. I want the $45 one, feeling good today. lol

Two positions, either slammed or stock, no in between.

Is this easy to install for the non skilled? Just got a clean 95 MKIII that i want to drop...

Posted by: Goddard-MarkVIII

So if you drop it your pretty much letting all the air out of your shocks? Does it make the ride much stiffer and harsh over bumps?

Posted by: rays brother

I wouldnt recomend driving it lowered like that. But when I used to have my 93 mark viii I used to drive it lowered all the time. It seemed every time it came around for inspection i had to pay. The whole front end had to be replaced. Ill still do it once i get barney back cause i like the looks I get from people.

It lets all the air out of the air springs. Shocks are normal shocks. Like Rays bro said you shouldnt really be driving around like that. But if you did it would be much harsher because the suspension is completely compressed and the springs and shocks are not able to cushion the car from bumps.

The Kit comes with a 15 page installation instructions, I've pretty much made it so a complete idiot could install it. All you need is basic hand tools to remove a couple panels, a pair of pliers, pair of wire cutters, and a crimping tool. Nothing too difficult about it.

Is this for Mark 8s only?

As of now, yes, only for the Mark VIII's. What did you have in mind? I heard Ray was working on something similiar for the Conti's but I don't know if he ever produced it. We might be able to come up with something if that's what you're looking for. Just let me know.

Posted by: poniesviii

For some reason your teaser pics don't portray the car as being fully vented. That's about where mine vents upon shut off, or while I'm on the freeway. .. ?

Posted by: poniesviii

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

My friend, I don't know what to tell you, that's as low as it goes, I'm running all stock wheels and tires. The pictures were taken at night so it was hard to get a good one, I'll take some more once I get the car cleaned up a little. I'll also get some points of reference.

I have a 97 Conti, and I think having the car slammed when it's parked looks pretty sweet. I'd be kinda scared to mess up the bags or anything though

Posted by: jbird97

Got my switch in the mail, I'm looking to get it installed and get some pics up within the next few days.

Thanks again Adam.

Posted by: Rich88LSC

Got mine too. Hoping to have time over the weekend to install it.

Posted by: tda13

To you guys installing the kit.

If your car is not sensor lowered do it. It is not required, but it takes some of the strain off the pump when raising the car back up and plus it looks really cool. This is something that Ray recommended as well. Believe me, once you have the kit installed, you will be raising it and lowering all time.

Do not drive the car slammed. I dont care what people say. Its hard on the car and repairs are big $$$.

Lets see some pics of your cars after the kit is installed.

T

Posted by: jbird97

Update, just got the switch installed, it took me 2 hours but thats because I didn't actually have a crimping tool, and ended up having to hard wire a couple wires instead of using the provided spades. It looks awesome, I'm gonna get it all put back together and head out to the local park and get some pictures.

Posted by: jbird97

Ok, got some pics. The car is dirty, I just got home from vacation yesterday and the switch was here waiting for me.

First are at normal height.

And dropped.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Muahahahahahahaha!

I've done it! I've created a monster!

Ok, so I recreated it, but it looks good man, real good!

Posted by: jbird97

Thanks, I love it. I don't know how you or Ray ever got this thing made. Electrical stuff confuses the crap out of me.

Oh by the way, the colors of my wires ended up all being the same as in your directions. Mines a 98.

looks good jbird, good follow through 96, ill shoot you some diag's for a 97 conti.
*edit* ok well i cant attach photos in pm's so heres the diagrams

It's 96hotrodlincoln, thank you very much. I'm the one making these kits, I've been pretty slow getting these out so far because it's been a busy two months for me. I've been working on a couple here recently, not far from having them finished. So hang in there guys, they're coming, I promise.

dont know if this has been asked or not, but can the ray's sswitched be used on a mark vii? and if so, can it be used to lower itself after an alarm has been set? down here we have alil problem of wrecker driver picking up cars for their thieving friends. just trying to make it alil more difficult to just roll in a winch a car up.

Well, I can honestly say for sure, I suppose it would work but I would need to see some info regarding the air suspension on the Mark VII's. Probably need a wiring diagram of the suspension to know for sure how it would have to be wired up.

If anyone has this information and could provide me with it, I'd be more than happy to look into it for you.

Somewhere I read that Ray's Brother was having a problem with dropping the rear. The nose would drop easy.

It was suggested that the switch had to be hit again for the rear but to no avail to Ray's Brother.

With that said he is my point. Can the car be just nosed down?

I did read where you said "Slammed or Raised".

I happen to like the rake look. I have a leak in the RF strut right now. New ones are on the way from American Air.

Here what she looks like after about 40min of sitting.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

you got one hell of a leak, yes it could be wired to just drop the nose, but it would take some adjusting to get it to not completely slam the nose on the ground.

Posted by: warthog5

Quote:
you got one hell of a leak
Yes I do. My fault too. Not thinking I put a wrench on the center stud on the strut on RF when I was changing the Upper control arm.

Don't do that!

I talked to Eddie at American Air about it and he suggested I pull it off and see if I can match up the outter most "O" ring and see if it will seal, but said if it's the lower "O" ring, then good luck with that.

So I just decided to replace them, as I've replaced everything else under the front end already.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

good looking car by the way, it's my cars twin, except for the sunroof and mud flaps.

Posted by: warthog5

Thank You. I'm trying to get her in shape. Mines a '98.

Mine will not stay looking like that all Pearl White. I kinda have a theme going with my stuff.

I like Black, but in Florida they just get Sooooo hot in the summer. So I do the sides in Black and the upper surfaces in White.

It started with my Custom Mako I built.
http://www.classicmako.com/projects/xshark/

So then I wanted my '94 F-150 to match.

Before: [Don't really have any good pix's from before]

After:

So I'm figuring on painting the Lincoln to match.

I didn't mean to derail the thread.

Email is warthog521@cox.net to make a order please.

can you post a parts list and scamatic for us DIY types that like to build our own stuff?

Posted by: jbird97

I can't find the other thread, but whatever happened to the mounting situation for the switch, I tried looking but it seems to me that the best place I can think of would be the ash tray. Gen 2

I understand you wanting to build it yourself, I too approached Ray with this back when I ordered my switch. Ray insisted on building it for me, I respected that because it was his design. He had spent his time designing the switches to make them work well for their application. I too spent my time reverse engineering and redesigning a switch after Ray's passing. I don't plan on posting the schematics but do some research, if you're familiar with automotive electrical systems and have a good grasp on how our suspension systems work, you should be able to build your own.

Here you can do some reading on how our suspensions work. There are some schematics on this page that are similar to the "Ray Switch" that a person could build from. There are also pinouts for the Suspension Control Module connectors.

I won't just give it to you, do your research and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Posted by: bryantaylor

i was just trying to take the easy route, lol. looks pretty simple. just need the bag and vent noids to stay open for it to vent. it looks like you can just use a monetary and hold it untill its vented if you really wanted to cheap out. actually, i might try that if i have time this weekend and see how that works.

Posted by: Lux

Please pm me your paypal and the turn around time on one of these kits.

I wonder if they coulda stuck the harness and connectors any further in the back. LOL

I sure am, have an order for two that I'm working on presently but still have plenty of parts to do several more.

Posted by: isaiah3g

Welp, within the month of October I'll have enough money to get one. I'm just tryig to get a lil extra money on top of the extra money I'm trying to get lol

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Alright man, just send me a PM when you're ready and I'll get it in the works!

Posted by: isaiah3g

sounds like a plan! thanks!

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Ok guys,

I spoke too soon, after counting my parts. I have enough parts to finish the two I'm currently working on, plus the one for isaiah3g.

After those three, I have enough parts to build ONE more. After that one, I'll start building a list of switches so that I can order parts again.

Translation - It may take some time before I start producing them again. So if you want one, get your name to me quick!

I would like to order one before their gone. Just curious how low dose it make the car. Would it be roughly the same height as when cruising over 60 mph

No, lower! Basically it sits the car as low as it can possibly go. I don't recommend driving over 15 mph with the system bled, even then, you're running the risk of ruining your front suspension components. It was only really meant for a sick looking stance while parked. You have the last one if you want it!

Its tuckin'

do you have the system that will do the front and back by themselves yet?

I have built one so far, it's on my car, it's not quite perfected yet but I really haven't spent any time working on it since it was installed, I really have only used it twice since I installed it. I still need to work on perfecting the design, there are still some issues I would like to resolve. I'd like to add the 1 sec delay for airing the system up, like the factory system does. I know how I want to do it but haven't set down and built it yet.

I also, don't have any idea on what the cost of one of these units would be, I would need to sit down and figure up all the parts I used to get a rough idea.

Posted by: itsnick6969

let me know when you get it all figured out. just pm me a price and would your system work with the ashab8 so you would be able to raise the rear and keep the front stock height? thanks

Yes, it would work but realize that my kit will cause the system to throw the check air ride message and it would need to be reset if you were wanting to go back to the factory system or make adjustments with the asham8. Not really that big of a deal but thought I should let you know just in case. I don't spend my time dealing with all the electronics of the system, the asham8 actually tricks the system, I just override it.

Guys, I'm currently out of parts for the "Ray Switch", at this moment I'm not sure when I will get around to ordering more parts but I will let you know when I am.

i was wondering if u had any updates on the switch that allows u to do both seperate.

I only have the prototype, it's installed on my car but I've never really sat down to finish the setup. I honestly haven't used it since I put it in. I'm not really for sure if I will produce this unit, because of all the wiring that needs to be done. It wasn't an easy one to build and don't know that I'd be interested in building more. Maybe if I could come up with a simpler method of wiring it, I might consider it. Also, I haven't even sat down to figure out what I have in it for costs. I'd figure this unit will cost at least twice as much as the "Ray Switch", possibly more.

Posted by: kylecm85

i understand i just dont think my car would work all the way aired out on 20's i think it would sit on the wheels and not tuck like i wish it would but if u ever get to finish it and want to sell it i would pay the extra to have that setup.

one thing you need to realize is this wont be a "fast bag setup" more like a slow bag setup normal lift time from a full drop (with mine when it was stock) was 90 sec and even slower to drop, the rear takes FOREVER!!!

Posted by: kylecm85

i know it would not be even close to a fast bag setup. I just wanted something that i could use at shows to lower it for that aggresive look but i am also interested in the sensor lowering just dont know how to do it.

My prayers go out to Ray and his family. I have seen him on this site and another for many years. I don't know him but his posts have been huge life savers in the past.

Thank you Ray.

Hey, so I was going to do a fast bag setup and didn't think I would really need this but My current project is costing too much. (10.5" touch screen in dash ad Carputer with 5.1 THX surround + 4th amp) I think I would like to do this mod right now though because my driveway is steep and would like the addded height but park at a low stance. Is this the best option for this besides fast baggin? And, I have a dual exhaust setup and was sondering if the pipe work would be damaged if the car sits on the ground?

Attachment 40809

Attachment 40810

Attachment 40811

Attachment 40812

Posted by: chicken

the exhaust should be ok, the rays switch is only for parked, driving dropped greatlly affects alignment angles and suspension wear. you car will lay out but not all the way down, due to bump stops in the suspension.
wtf license plates are those?

Posted by: solja.b

The plates are from the Kingdom of Bahrain. I was stationed there for two years and brought my car. Ok, I think I'll get one of these switches temporarily. So, I can park slammed and lift to above OEM height depending on sensor height and back again when i park? Are there adjustment heights like parked, driving, and high for certain dips like my driveway? Please let me know and who it is I contact to get this.....thanks guys.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

No, this kit strictly bleeds the system of almost all the air. Setting the car at the lowest possible ride height. There are no adjustments, it's slammed or driving height that's it.

I'm the one you need to contact about these. Unfortunately, I'm not building any of them at the moment. I'll be starting another build sometime in the near future but I don't know when just yet. If you're interested, PM me and I'll put you on the list.

Thanks

Adam

Posted by: Warden

I am in for round 2.
Just ordered an ASHAM 8 too.

Posted by: isaiah3g

Welp, finally got around to getting the car cleaned and the Ray switch installed. here are a few pictures of it! I love this switch! and thanks adam and rich for helping me out with things. i really appreciate it! LvC Rocks!

Posted by: isaiah3g

oh,the last picture wasn't laid out,i just thought it'd be a funny picture. :P

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Okay guys,

I'm looking at starting another build but like before, I want to make sure that I'm going to be able to sell them before I order all the parts and get stuck with half of them.

I haven't decided as to whether or not I'm going to be looking for a minimum order before I purchase supplies or if I'm going to ask for money upfront before I order the supplies.

As of right now, I'm just looking to get an idea of how many people are still interested in buying one. As of my last count I have 10 individuals that are wanting one. I will be sending PM's to those individuals but I do ask that they send me one as well if they are reading this.

The costs are the same as before
$42 for the switch with e-mail instructions or $45 for the switch and a printed copy of the instructions.

If you are unsure as to what a "Ray Switch" is, read the following link here (note: I only make the "upgraded kit" that Ray spoke of!) , or do a search for Ray Switch and read about it. Please don't nail me with question after question about what it does.

Also as of now I am not offering my "upgraded kit" that allows for front and rear separate controls! So don't ask! If I choose to make this, I will post with the info.

Posted by: kustomizingkid

Hmmmm.... is it time for me to finally get me one?

Posted by: nobody_special

I am researching it now (as I am new to the site) but I am very interested.

Posted by: The omen

I'm in! Pm me the details

Posted by: chicken

damn looks like i gotta get off my ass and send you them fuse holders lol

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Yes, I'll be needing those!

Posted by: nobody_special

I have been looking, but my hotel internet here is horrible and its taking forever to find anything, do you have pictures of what switches you use? if you have more than one option, could I see them?

Put me down for one, too.

Go back to the first page of this thread, there is a picture of the actual switch that I use. It could be wired to any type of single-pole double-throw momentary switch, or any two single-pole single-throw momentary switches, or two normally open push-button switches. That part will be up to you though, you'll have to do the research, find me a supplier for the switches and pay the extra cost entailed if you want it customized. Or you can just do it yourself!

Posted by: nobody_special

The pictures aren't loading on this crappy internet, I will just have to wait till I get home, Thanks!

Posted by: Warden

I am definately in, either for this mark or the next! PM sent.

Posted by: isaiah3g

I would strongly encourage getting one! its freakin awesome!

Posted by: kustomizingkid

I'm just worried about killing my compressor....

Posted by: isaiah3g

Yeah,I'm worried about that too. lol I do think I have an extra one though. Not sure if its off of a Mark,or another Linc. My dad brought it home one day...and maybe one day I'll need it.

bahhhh i ran mine for a couple years with no probs (even with 1 comp )

Let me know.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Ok guys,

Here's the deal, I'm working on creating a website to help streamline this for me and for you guys. It'll include a button that will link everything to my paypal address, as well as get your shipping address, e-mail address, etc....

It's still a work in progress but I hope to have it up and running by next week. I'll post again when I have it finished, but for now here is the link to the main page. Clicky!

I'll also be adding the link to my profile and signature for easy access.

Thanks a lot guys and I'll be in touch!

Posted by: pepperman

The main page looks good Adam very cool.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Ok guys,

There as been some discussion over the past few months about adding a "kill" switch to the kit so that when you disconnect and reconnect the battery the kit won't automatically bleed the system.

Is this something that you guys are interested in?

If so, I may add this and make it my "Ray Switch" V2.1!

With this added option, I may even be able to eliminate the check air-ride message, I'll need to test this theory but it just might work! I don't think this will increase the cost much but it might add and extra dollar or two to the price to cover the cost of the extra switch, connectors and wire.

Thanks

Adam

When u hit the switch should be the only time the message should come up. If u dont hit the switch and the message comes up ou got problems somewhere.

ok then im in for 1 if i know im causing the error then no big deal to me

Posted by: KC96LSC

I just posted my car in the Mark VIII forum with my new air leveling swith. Should have probably posted here. If you don't have one of these, your missing out. To have this control over your air ride system is one of my top after market toys. BUY ONE NOW!!!! you wont regret it.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Guys

After a few weeks of tinkering, I've decided that I will incorporate the "kill switch" so that the car will not drop when the battery is re-connected.

I have not incorporated the message center kill and probably will not, I see this as an indicator as to the when the switch has been engaged.

Essentially, the "kill switch" will not completely disable the kit but it will keep it from opening all the solenoids.

I wish I could figure out why it switches automatically when the battery is reconnected but I have not been able to figure that part out.

I am going to go ahead and open my website for orders, I am going to need a minimum order of 8 orders so that I have the money to purchase the supplies to get them going.

For you new guys, you pre-order, I build the switches as they're ordered, the turn around time takes awhile and I do have a personal life and a lot on my agenda right now, so if you can't wait very long, then don't be one of the first to order.

If you're worried about me running off with your money realize that this is my second round of production and everyone has received their "Ray Switch" without any complaints.

To order your "Ray Switch" click the link below in my signature, find the "Ray Switch 2.0 Order Page" link and follow the instructions, if you have any questions, fill out the contact form and I will get back to you.

Thank You

Adam

I Ordered Mine yesterday, the Asham 8 has been giving me trouble and I cant deal with it anymore, it was a cool idea at first because of the Digital lines and the Buttons, but I rather it work all the time and go down a little bit lower, Is anyone else going to order one?

Adam
I'll place my order tomorrow from a secure computer.

Cobramark
I just recieved my ASHAM8 - what kind of issues have you been having?

PM sent to you 96hotrodlincoln

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Guys

The order total is up to 3 now, only 5 more to go.

Also, during checkout, it gives you an option to put in a comment, please enter your LVC username in that box, it helps me keep the ordering straight if I know your usernames here.

Thanks

Adam

just be really careful installing that thing, make sure you don't arch any wires and make sure you disconnect the battery that thing is really sensitive,

mine was working great for a while, i liked how I could adjust it and have the digital lines showing and set to where I wanted it, if it went to high, it would get stuck and I would have the reset the whole system putting it to stock, sometimes the switches didnt work right, now its just not doing anything but at a good ride hieght that is drivable but from what I herd the Ray switch is a better setup, can go a little bit lower than the asham 8 , if you install the asham 8 with no problems you will be fine, i think mine was spiked from the beginning , let me know how it works out for you..

Go for it Adam. Great Job. Keep it up.

Come on guys, order these switches.

Posted by: Cobramarkviii

any Updates on the Switches? Is anyone else going to get one?

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Well, we're a little over a week in and we're still holding at three orders. I sent PM's to all of those who "said" they wanted switches, but nobody seems to be interested anymore.

Talk is cheap!

I know Geno, happens to you all the time!

For those of you that have ordered, I'm going to give it a little more time and if I don't meet the 8 orders mark, I'll order the parts for just your switches and get them built and shipped.

With the lack of orders and everything going on in my life right now, it might be awhile until I decide to do another batch. The requests were stacking up quick and I didn't want to get loaded down with 20+ orders but it seems it's just the opposite.

Posted by: Cobramarkviii

Come On Guys, i know some of you still need a switch..

Posted by: Warden

Adam I am in no rush myself. I still don't have my Mark back yet.

Posted by: Stangman

Never hurts to be prepared. I've heard soo much about this switch I couldnt pass up the opprotunity. I almost ordered 2...

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Alright guys

Here's the deal, I've given it almost a month now, pretty much two weeks since I sent the PM's to everybody that SAID they wanted a switch and I've got three actual orders.

So here's what I'm going to do, I'm going to order enough parts for 5 switches, 4 of the 5 have takers already. For those of you that can do math, that leaves 1 left up for grabs. After those 5 are gone, I don't know when I'll do another build,

I might build on an as-ordered basis but the price will probably go up. I order the parts in bulk to save on costs. I'm giving it a week, if I don't meet the 8 minimum orders, I'll order the parts I need and that will be that.

I'm not making the guys who have already paid wait around for everyone else, it's not fair to them and I'm not going to waste anymore of my time.

So there it is, next wednesday I'll order the parts for 5 and that's how it will be.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

bump 5 days and counting!

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Ok guys

I have five orders, I'll give it a few more days and if nobody else requests a switch, I'll order the parts for the five and leave it at that.

Adam

Posted by: SCIONE

Been wanting one of these for years, payment has been sent. Now just have to get the new transmission back in.

Thanks for keeping the Ray Switch alive!

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

That makes 6 orders, I believe that's enough that I can order enough parts for 10 switches. I'll probably start ordering parts on Monday.

That leaves 4 up for grabs!

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Most of the parts are on order as of Tuesday, I have a few more to order but we're on our way. Once I get the parts, and find the time, I'll start building the switches. When they're shipped, you'll be notified.

Thanks for all your patience!

There are still 4 up for grabs!

Posted by: chicken

ill get the fuse holders in the mail next week

Posted by: billet works

Do you still have any available? Have cash, can paypal now if so. No printed instructions needed.

Thanks,

Don

Posted by: n8bachelor

OK this might be a dumb question but why do they call it a "Ray Switch" ?? I do not own a MK8 so I'm not that informed. I do know what they do.

Posted by: billet works

I believe it was invented by a guy named Ray (RIP Ray)...but I'm a total LVC newb so I could be wrong.

yup ray created the switch, and has since that has passed, and 96hotrodlincoln figured it out and kept the rays switch alive

I know, I'm lazy... the car needs an ENTIRE front suspension rebuild... I've been prolonging it...

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

Well guys, there have been a couple hold-ups on production. For one my power supply that I test the switches with, burnt itself up last night. That I can work around, temporarily but it's still a complication.

For two, my soldering iron needs a new tip bad, that was ordered two days ago, should be here by the end of the week. I'll get production fired back up once everything is working again.

Thanks guys!

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

So you guys know I'm not jerking your chains, the new soldering tips came in today and I was able to finish the first switch.

It takes a littler longer because with the new "kill switch" I have to take my time and make sure I get it all wired right.

But here's the proof!

Posted by: Cobramarkviii

Sweet! cant wait to get one of those things! lol what does the kill switch do?

Actually there is one less connection from V2.0! When I added the "kill switch" I removed the ground wire at the cigarette lighter, it's not really needed now. Plus, it's kind of difficult to get at.

Posted by: 96hotrodlincoln

1 more to go and that's it for this build! Thanks to all of you who have ordered, and I'll get them to you ASAP!

Posted by: Cobramarkviii

Nice! how much time does it take you to build just 1? Let me know when you ship them out, its goin in the car the same day that it gets here hahaa

Honestly, I could probably build one in an hour, maybe a little more, if I was determined.

But I suffer from this terrible debilitating ailment called laziness! Some of you may have heard of it, it's pretty common in young to middle-aged Caucasian males.

If that's not bad enough, I also suffer from procrastination and the inability to say no to people in need!

I'm too lazy to hope for a cure. And probably too lazy to install this thing once I get it. I need to earn more money to be even lazier. But how if I am lazy! My head is starting to spin.

I want chicken and chi-chi's.
I want taste buds!

Yeah, there's no cure for what I have!

Yeah, you're probably guessing right, I've been delayed yet again, due to a miscount on connectors. I ordered more this weekend and should have them by the end of the week. I have three that are probably about 30 minutes each away from being completed. I need to update my instructions just a tad with the new changes that have been made and I'll get them fired off.

Until then, I'm trying to keep working on getting them built so I can get them ready to ship.

Be patient, I'm working on them.

Thanks

Adam

Guys

I apologize but bare with me a little while longer. A close family friend, actually and ex-grandmother, is in the hospital with cancer really bad. Once again, something else slows my progress on the switches. I'm truly starting to wonder about these things and whether or not they bring bad luck.

Needless to say, it's quite possible that I'll need to be making plans for a funeral in my near future. I hope you all understand!

Thanks

Well the funeral is tomorrow. I've been working on them this past weekend a little, I have three that are ready to be shipped, I just need to get the to the post office. Hopefully, trying to get them finished in the next few weeks, in three weeks from tomorrow we close on our house and move that very same weekend. Then the 15th is our wedding, so if I don't get them done soon, it's probably going to be a little over a month before I get the chance to work on them again. Hang in there guys, I'm doing my best!

Adam,

Sorry for your loss. I wish there was some way that ray would've given me or showed me the specs on how to build those things. We tried to get into his computer but some witch took it and kept everything he ever had.

Jason

It's cool man, I appreciate it. I don't mind building the switches, in all actuality, it gives me a sense of accomplishment. But I am starting to see what Ray talked about with all the hassle. But hey, there's always going to be those few bad apples that try to ruin things.

I think after this batch, that's going to be it for awhile. I might build them on an as-needed basis but that's going to get expensive with the costs of shipping. $45 dollars is a steal considering the costs!

$5 shipping to most places
$10 timer relay
few bucks for the relays, those cost 5 a piece if you buy them in the parts stores
the switches are a few bucks a piece
all the crimp connectors
the wire
not to mention shipping costs to get it all to me

Oh well, that's just how it is! I'll do my best to keep them going but it's hard to say how long that's going to last.
