I was talking to a dude who drives a TownCar for business. He told me if recommended psi is 34, he'll only inflate to 28psi for city driving and maybe 32psi for highway driving. whats your feelling about this?

The benefit of a lower tire pressure in our land yacht Town Cars is a softer ride, regardless of city versus highway. It absorbs the impact of potholes, bumps, etc. much better, which is easier on passengers, that you may want to impress, and the vehicle to some degree. But, 28 psi with 4 American (big) adults in the car isn't such a good idea, as it may distort the sidewall too much.
In my opinion the std. Town Car air ride suspension, and even other Panthers with coil springs, has enough cush built in to it to provide a sufficiently soft ride, so I stick to tire pressures of 32 to 34 for all conditions. Which is what Ford or any tire manufacturer will tell you.

28 lbs of air is probably track pressure for a TC. IMHO I think whatever the factory settings are should be used and embarassingly enough I don't know what they are. But I will go and look it up.

Hey, stick to stock guys. Thats 30 in the front and 34 in the back. These cars are fairly sensitive to tire pressure changes, specifically in the front, and running those pressures too low or too high can upset the handling and maybe even cause a crash on the interstate.
Heres why: Too much pressure in the front tires on the order of 2-5 PSI will cause the car to lose stability at high speeds. You'll find the car much less predictable in cross wind situations, and thats not good. If you go in the same direction towards 2-5 PSI too little and the car will lose its corner ability. If you're use to driving TC's with the correct pressure and go to one with lower pressures you will know exactly what I mean. You will notice more understeer accompanied with that "is it going to turn?" feeling.
