(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a question ? I have a 1990 Towncar with you know the 320/5.0 engine. The question is what makes the exhaust manifolds glow ? I was thinking the cats but is there a chance that both sides are bad as both sides of the manifolds glow ? Would one side make both glow ? Please let me know...

Faulty thermactor system maybe, first job is to whip out the code reader and check for stored fault codes in the PCM.

That could be indicitive of a lean condition. I would also check your spark plugs for color/damage.

The plugs are new. The other i forgot to mention is the car is weak at takeoffs also.

Think i got it. Timing was way off and fried plug wires...

Rule of thumb:

Manifold/headers glow - lean
Cats glow - rich
