So the other day after i started my car, i went to make a turn and the power steering was acting up. It was like there was no power steering at all but it wasn't constant. Like i could turn it a little bit fine and then it would be stiff like there was no power. The pump is not making any noise at all and the fluid level is fine. It almost feels like it's binding up in certain spots. Could it be the steering rack? Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before? Any input would be great. Thank you
Matt

Could be the rack, could be a ball joint.

I am having the same problem with my 2001 LS. What do you have? I hope that more people will comment on this topic. A little information about our issue would be appreciated.

How is the condition of the serpentine belt?

First off, I have a 2000 LS V6. Second, I just had the passenger side ball joint replaced and the drivers side was fine. I just checked the belt today and it seems fine and tight. And the crazy thing is there is no noise at all from the power steering pump or the belt. All i can think it is is something with the rack and/or pinion. Thanks for your responses.
