any other mods that are useful with stock gears for now?

ok guys ive got one for you.. i know alot about what most people do with their marks from blowers, to computer chips, to gears (mostly 4.10 ratio)..

but im wondering what else could be good besides those 3 mods..

for example, adjustable fuel pressure regulator - ive seen once before that if you bump the pressure up to about 45 pounds... that is supposedly optimum pressure and should increase some throttle response but i have not tested and do not know if it is proven by dyno or track..

as far as intake is concerend.. i have a Gen 1 mark.. and this manifold could be considered as an edelbrock performer... from idle to almost 6000 rpms it has an awesome powerband.. and that the gen 2 manifold is similar to a torker or rpm manifold... not as good a flow as Gen 1 but has better topend -- 6500 rpms plus..

anyways.. i was thinking if i cut the plenum at the bottom of the manifold in half and add more material to make the plenum bigger... OR.. to extrude hone the manifold and then wrap up the plenum with some kind of insulation or construct some kind of container that will introduce COOL air in order to drop the intake temps...

so far i contructed a half box with aluminum.. used the stock maf since that its a small motor.. efficient but small and i dont feel that it really needs alot of air.. .. but i used a 7" K&N cone fiilter and capped all the open spots with self-adhesive insulation..

but now i have something else.. i still have the filter but i cut open a hole in the half box to allow the MAF to sit in place and well.. i thought it was kinda funky.. i decided to buy an APC turbo air filter..

basically this filter is a cone filter but about 4 inches in length and it has an aluminum casing surrounding it.. i thought it was ricerish but i decided to try it.. well what do you know.. since the aluminum half box was helping the cool air stay in place where the filter was and the open spaces were covered with insulation...

my response increased even more.. if only i had 4.10 gears I KNOW my mark would rip the tires off the line.. you can feel the response with a small tap no joke!!

of course you need to drive the car around for a couple minutes for the system to cool down alot but hey it still works...

oh yea i forgot.. i removed the resonator and replaced the stock muffs with 2.25" inlet/outlet Flowmaster delta 40s and have dual 2" dual exit tips

and i removed the resonators from the intake tube as well... plus i wrapped the intake tube with insulation too

now after all that BS i just wrote above... what do you guys think i should do to increase power or response without dealing with gears or computer..

maybe removal of 3rd cat?? increased mid-pipe size to 3" and split into dual 2.25" into the flows?

cobra intake manifold or mach 1 intake manifold swap..

maybe find a Gen 2 IMRCs and take out the butterflies and equipment.. .seal up all the holes and use it to increase the length of the intake tunners... maybe it'll increase the torque since the runners will be longer..

what do you guys think would be best for daily but VERY responsive driver

Some pics of what you've done would be nice to help figure things out. Definitly do the computer tune.

yea i know the computer tune would easily free up sum horses definetely.. ill most likely go for a pre-burned chip from LMS or maybe an Xcal tuner.. i duno..

but im tryin to see what i can do before i do anything to the computer.. i do know that i need to do the J-mod or the B&M shift improver kit... but most definetely the J-mod since that that mod is in more detail and i rather use Ford parts since that i know its quality stuff....

too bad there arent any manual valvebodies out there for the 4R70W... would be cool.. hey i can add a C4 but eh its not a race car...

also im planning not to use headers right now.. im trying to get all the horsepower i can squeeze out with stock exhaust system ... i know the exhaust would free up alot but im on a budget

There are manual valve bodies. I had a Lentech built AODE strip terminator in my stang, had a trans brake, manual valvebody and 3200 rpm stall.
Check out Lentech or Performance Automatic for the valve body.
J mod, cooler, 04 Cobra heads ported/polished, 98 Cobra cams, 99/01 Cobra/Mach 1 intake, 03 cobra exhaust manifolds, X pipe or pipes, 2.5 exhaust mandrel bent and mufflers of your choice (I like LMS exhaust myself), higher stall converter....
