" Door Open" Warning

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I know this has been covered before but why does my warning system keep showing that a door is open when they are closed? Some switch failed somewhere. It drives my passengers nuts. Does not do it all the time.

It's a 93 Mark VIII

WD 40 on the arm.....

Stuck switch - spray WD-40 liberally in an upward fashion in the small part of the "V" in the door side of the latch. May take several applications.

...or replace the switch, but it's all been covered before so you should know this

Yeah. They're not mentioning that you may have to spray, shut door. shut door shut door. spray, shut door. shut door. shut door. Spray, ........ two weeks later.. spray, shut door shut door shut door. .. until it goes away.

Probably a good idea to spray it once a year just to keep it from needing it again.

Well it worked! A few squirts of WD and the problem is gone.

Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!

I kind of have the same problem. The "Door Ajar" Message doesn't come on but the interior lights do. Which is a pain at night since I haven't done the headlight conversion yet. I've have tried using a couple of layers of duct tape where the door light switch hit the door and that worked for a day or two.
Any Ideas?

Thanks so much for the info. I knew you guys would know, and yes I did search, even though I had to wade through all the other aborted threads where you guys made others before "search", (hearing special sound effects)

Took two applications, although it was immediate after the 2nd, as in right now I have my computer back, love watching that mileage meter, and I can now set the time to Daylight Savings LOL
