Hello Guys.
Please be patient with me if you have already been asked this before. I have had a 93 mk8 now for a few months," love the car" We haven't driven our 99 mustang gt since we bought the mark. A few weeks ago our air compressor stopped working, we left it at the repair shop for a week and ordered a new compressor. By the time the new compressor showed up , we went to drive it in to the shop and we found the battery was dead. We boosted the battery and the compressor fires up and works great so we just put the new part on the shelf for now..
We drove the car for a week with no trouble, and now the air suspension warning light comes on and the compressor will not stop running!
I mean not even when the key is off, the trunk switch off . I disconnected the battery, waited a few minutes and then reconnected the battery. The compressor starts up and runs forever. I will now change out the compressor but should I be looking for anything else ??

check the compressor relay

Thanks for that, I will have it checked out.

When I had this car on the hoist the other day I was looking at the air bags on the front.
This may not be a good comparison but , on the heavy trucks with air bags in the old days they looked much like the air bags on the mk , with a metal base that the bag rests over, we called it the "chair" I see my rears may have been replaced ,they appear to be plastic.
The front ones look like they are steel, and look like they have some rust scale on them. On the big trucks we used to lift the suspension, wire brush the rust scale off or use emery cloth and just clean them up. This would keep them from leaking . Has anyone done this ,and would it help?
I wouldn't say they leak much as the only time the compressor would start is when I was at the stoplight after highway speeds or when another passenger climbed in.

according to that description the system is operating normally. it lifts the car up from being lowered at highway speeds and when the extra weight lowers it with a passenger.

the rear seats were always plastic and the frronts are steel. if there is rust on there it wont hurt to clean them up. just make sure there are no sharp edges.

Thanks again.
Nice mustang by the way, we have a white 99gt coupe with 69000km's that's about 45,000 miles. We are hoping to upgrade to a 2007 or 2008 in a while, just looking for the rite one
