It is not all that expensive when you consider how much a Desert Eagle retails for. I would not be comfortable running .50 through a polymer frame that has not come from the original manufacturer that way. Let alone the fact that it appears to only accept their .50GI proprietary rounds.

$500 for the gun, $600 for the upgrade... $1,100 package.
D.E. retails for $1,100 to $1,400. I think its expensive for just an upgrade. But definately agree on the fact its not a regular 50 cal round, only for the 50GI. The chart shows the 50GI only has the power of a 45. http://www.guncrafterindustries.com/...artridge.shtml

Then you have the option of the S&W 500 that is in the same price range of the D.E.

You are right...I based the cost being less on the fact that I would not pay $500 for a Glock OR retail for that conversion.

Your point about the power difference is taken, but I disagree with your comparison to a Desert Eagle. The two guns are apples and oranges. The DE is not easily concealable, the Glock is.

Agreeable, definatly apples and oranges, but i'm comparing cost vs power. For some who do like the "Desert Eagle" name, they can also get the "Baby Eagle" that is concealable, but thats not a 50 cal either. Im just not a glock person, but have grown on polymer frames. I was against them till I got a S&W M&P at a great deal.

WTF do you need a .50cal carry for anyway? You plan on stopping andre the giant or something? A .45 is more than enough to stop anything or anyone you'll encounter in suburbia.

Baby Eagle is basically a CZ 75. Hard to find good holsters for it. I'd never buy one although they are neat looking.

M&P is a good choice, congratulations.

I have a CZ too, but not 75, its 40P. Same weight and balance as the M&P. I didnt think the Baby Eagle is close to the 75, it felt a LOT heavier. Is tough finding holsters. But my favorite that I always have with me is the 340PD.
