Brake light problem

On my 1987 Lincoln Mark VII LSC, about the only problems I'm having are the brake lights work sporadically. I suspect the brake light switch is trying to short out. Not sure where it is though. I've never owned a Lincoln before, so hope I can find someone in here who is familiar with these cars. Also, the message center drives me nuts. the DTE beeps every time I start up and I have to hit the clock button a couple of times to get it to shut up. It won't let me set the time either. Only problems I'm having so far. This is a NICE car! I want to restore it!

Not sure on the VII but I think it is on the brake pedal, up high, if I remember correctly.

My 85 T-Bird switch was melted so bad I had to splice in a new connector and switch.
