Trunk release 1990 mark vii

When using the key-less entry or remote button to open the trunk the trunk opens very fast, I am afraid the trunk may spring. Is there supposed to be a motor or some other part to control opening. the pull down works fine.

No motor on opening. Its spring loaded. Always thought that the abrupt opening on 90 LSC would cause some damage -- but after 18 years it still seems to be functioning well.

You can tweak the "spring bars" by prying on them to calm the opening.
