I thought that I remembered reading on here somewhere that you need to "reset" your battery after installing aftermarker intake. By "reset" I mean unplug the battery over night to allow things to reset, anyone heard of this or did I misread something.

yeah you do but not over night. i unplugged it for the time it took me to install it and then i reconnected the battery.

what is the reasoning behind this...what happens when the battery is unplugged that needs to happen for the new intake? just curious, im trying to understand things and learn more about different mods.

Posted by: rickztahone

it's just the system adjusting to this new modification. it's taking in more air. this is step is probably not necessary but it is recommended in case your car doesn't recognize the extra air the CAI is taking in

It resets the adaptive learning so that the car can relearn its long term fuel trims again according to your CAI. Sometimes a CAI does not affect a car at all. Other times it can really affect fueling. It is always best to do the reset. Rick made a good point which is just unplug it when installing the CAI and then once finished just hook the battery back up and you will be good.

i have had my intake in for about a month now and the battery has been unplugged at least 3 times for about 30 minutes each time for different reasons. should i do it for long or should i be alright

Posted by: rickztahone

you should be alright by now if it's been in there for over a month

The sound makes for a great audio for fuel efficient driving also.
