hi all. i bought a 97 tc ss last spring. well a few weeks back i lost break pressure, breaks were still working but the pedal was going just about all the way to the floor before the brakes would engage.
well i knew the pads were gonna be low since i hadn't changed them since i owned the car a single time. well good thing i caught it just in time the pads sure was low, thankfully the rotors and everything else was fine. so after i got the pads slapped on i checked under the hood and the master cyl. resevoir was really low, so i topped it off and went on to bleed the brakes.
pressure built up nice, but after a few pumps i found the pedal being mushy/ going to the floor again. fed up i said f**k it and parked it back in the driveway. well upon going to put my tools away i discover a huge ass puddle of brake fluid on my garage floor. few weeks went by, pulled her back in the garage and jacked her back up. upon inspecting the brake line i discovered a leak in the back left line just in front of the wheel well. everything looked extremely difficult to get to to work on. it seems as tho all the brake lines are ran along the drivers side and cross over to the pass. side.
so i called up the dealer and i had a damn heart attack. guy tells me that its gonna run me 1300 yes thats right 1300 for ONLY 2 new lines ran. he goes on to tell me that in order to do this the body needs to be seperated and jacked up off the frame to do the job, and its a 10 hour job . well i searched this forum hi and lo and no info on this. somebody else went through this ordeal????????????? any advice???????????????

Put in a ruber break line like what is on the ends going to the wheels
by cuting the break line and then use flare the ends fitings you could also do this with metal break line had to explaine like this found this site quick http://www.stu-offroad.com/suspensio...etool/ft-1.htm

You could just run a separate line yourself, cut off the ends so you have access and just leave the old line in place and run a new one as best you can use plastic wire ties. There are lots of brake tubing vendors that can make a set cheaper or just buy the straight line and bend yourself.
$1300 woof that is hard to take. My 1990 TC was a bastard to do. I did it in stainless from Stainless Steel Brake Corp. Cost about $125, that was 8-9 years ago. I had access to a lift so that made it easier than being on your back.

thanks for replying so fast !!!!!!! slow markv111 i'll have to check that out, i already got the flare tools. maybe that'll hold me over till spring when its warm enough to re run all new lines. frat man, i think i've come to the conclusion thats probably what i'll end up doing, even tho i would much rather do the new lines and have them just like stock in the proper places/ hold downs and such. if i wanted to do that, would i reall have to seperate the body from the frame??????? thanks a lot for the suggestions.

i had this exact problem on my 94 ltc. it was leaking on the driver side by the wheel well. i took it to a brake shop and just replaced that part of the line for like 150 bucks. its not meant for permanent fix but its a cheap quick fix till you get the money to completely replace. just ask them to replace that part of the line.
. well i searched this forum hi and lo and no info on this. somebody else went through this ordeal????????????? any advice???????????????
