hey whats up all.long time reader, first time poster..i've been searching for a while and cant find anything directly answering my question..i got a 93 mark viii and am going to do the coil conversion in April. but for now i really want to slam the hell out of the air ride. i think i remember reading somewhere that if you jack up all 4 wheels off the ground and shut the air ride switch off when you lower the car it will be as low as the suspension gets. is this true? i know its not healthy for the car but i figured if i'm replacing everything anyway, what the heck.. thank you for any input.

Yes if you jack up the car with the air ride on the car all the bags with vent.

Problem is you will not be able to get the jack pulled out from under the car when you drop it down. Also you are going to do a number on your ball joints.

AND, the car will probably not be able to be driven any where safely because of potential road interference.

not to mention it will rattle your teeth out

lol..rattle your teeth out..lol.. thanks guys. yea tha car wont be driven anywhere far just around town..and in a few weeks just driven 15 mins to the track (raceway park) but by than i should have coils.. and also im lookin to put a locker and 4.10's in it.. does the 93 mark have an 8.8?

also if tha car is slammed and i turn tha air ride switch back on will it just lift back up if nothing broke while bouncing around?

I would really suggest to NOT drop your bags to nothin...I had that done to mine before the new susp went in, and it was really, really bad, not to mention I did have to replace one set of Ball joints, and and upper control arm.

Good Luck!

thanks for your input..well the front bags are almost aired out all of the time anyway..somethings wrong up there..so being the front is dumped 75% of the driving time with really no problems, will dumping the rear make that much of a difference (breaking parts)??

Posted by: 21stcenturygadgetguy

When mine was totally down, I think thats when the Ball joint was broke. Even w/some air (25%) in there, you have some shock absorbtion :---)

Posted by: devilchild

it will destroy your joints and your car will bottom out everywhere you go...

not to mention will probably annoy you after 5 minutes of bouncing nonstop..

but its your car.... have fun

When I bought my 93 parts car the bags were shot and it was sitting on the ground, I drove it about 5 miles to my house, wouldn't do that ever again.

you can get a pretty decent ride up until the tires start tucking, then it goes downhill real quick

Posted by: AbrahamLincoln

buy a coil conversion, replace those sway bar links if there not there.

Posted by: ChooDatChit

thanks fellas..yea i am buying tha coil conversion real soon.. do you think tha ride with the bags dumped will be alot worse than cut springs on a acura integra? i got used to the ride...but i have a feeling the lincoln is going to break parts alot faster..
