Trunk Release Problem

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok, got a bit of a problem with my trunk release. It does not work all of the time. At first, I though it was acting up because of the cold weather. Now its getting to the point that Im not sure I'll be able to open the trunk anymore. When I depress the button most of the time now, just the trunk panel lights flash and the release doesnt even make a sound. When the release does work, the lights do not flash. I was thinking maybe a broken wire, but Im really not sure. The biggest problem with this is I do not have a fuel door button anymore (broke) or a remote of any sort and I can only use the release in the trunk to open the gas door. Has anyone had this problem before? I searched and didnt find anything like this....

Does your key not work in the trunk? Had the same problem with a 96 Lsc. Ended up replacing the latch/release assy.

No. The key fits but refuses to turn.

Wouldn't a short term, relatively cheap fix be to have a locksmith rekey the trunk ?
