I just met a welder... and he said he'd help weld my exhaust if I wanted... I was wondering what kind of improvements I'd see if I got rid of my third cat... also what do I really need to do?... does it need an x pipe?... would I need to retune it?

Reduced back pressure, but most of all, reduced weight.
No retune necessary. Might as well replace it with an x-pipe of some kind.

This is a topic that has been discussed countless times, so a quick search should turn up more information than you'll even want to read.

I'd be cautious if you live in an area that you have to worry about emissions testing.

I agree, Although it will most likely still pass if the 2 fronts are left on. The car has them for a reason, I would leave the convertors alone & remove the resonator instead. I personally think these cars sound awesome with the resonator & mufflers deleted.
