93 Mark VIII computer?

Would my 94 benefit any by replacing the computer with one from a 93?

I replaced the ECM in my 95 with a 93 & it made a little difference, not very noticable though. If it's free or maybe around $20 bux then I might try it. Some Marks of the same years are just quicker than others. who knows why?

a certain 93 code was a hotter flash from all the others, i dont know off hand which code is the desired 93 computer, but i have about (30) 93 computers lol, i have close to 70 computers total from 93-98

My 95 had the DZA1 & it didn't seem very aggressive to me (LOL)

DZA1 is a 95 PCM, it's definately not the most aggressive... it's literally the "last in line" for EEC IV Mark 8 processors, which means the "bean counters" had 3 years worth of "bean counting" by the time the DZa1 box arrived.

z4h0 is a 94 code almost exclusively and the dza1 is almost exclusive to the 95 model year.

I "believe" DZa1 was ONE of the first PCM's to be cracked/reverse engineered back in the beginning of the chip days.

That is probably why more chip burners at the time said "this is the best code"...because it was "the only one" they COULD burn a chip for.

the "desirable" 93 boxes are wsz2 and wsz3.

Tiff's STOCK 93 {the 515th to roll off the line} had a wsz2 and it would run door handle to door handle with my "chipped DZa1 95 w/373's".

I'm not saying this is "set in stone" but EVERY 94 I have seen had a z4ho processor.It MAY be a regional thing {here in Texas} though, I dont know.

from what I have seen here, all 94's are z4ho and all 95's were DZA1.

Tiff's 93, that has as late 92 build date had the wsz"2"
most 93's that had 93 build dates had the wsz"3"

My uncle's 93 was built in October 92 and it when you go wot it hits as hard as a runaway train and it's all stock. I'm pretty sure it can run 14.3-14.5.

This is from a T-Bird/Cougar TSB (95-8-3) but you need to be careful changing stuff like pcm's from one year to another as it can amount to the same issues if not done with a bit of information/research first:

1995 PCM CALIBRATION, OR THE 1994 PCM CALIBRATION WITH THE 1995 MAIN CONTROL ASSEMBLY.

IF INSTALLING A FORD AUTHORIZED REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION WITH A 1995 LEVEL MAIN CONTROL, THE PCM
CALIBRATION MUST BE CHANGED TO THE 1995 LEVEL. THE FORD AUTHORIZED REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION WITH THE
1995 LEVEL MAIN CONTROL WILL BE TAGGED TO INDICATE THE 1995 LEVEL MAIN CONTROL HAS BEEN INSTALLED.
FAILURE TO UPDATE THE PCM COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE FORD AUTHORIZED REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION.

Don't get me wrong, if it works and there are no issues, it's just something you should be aware of that could potentially be a problem down the line...
