Mark VIII Seat interchange

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Some time ago I read that there was a difference between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 seats. What I would like to know is what those differences are. My '94s seats are falling apart and I just bought a '97 interior on the assumption that there can't be too much difference. I'm sure someone else has already done this, so I would appreciate any info that they may have regarding this. Thanks, Mel

I think you need to use the old seat tracks I know markedrea has done this if he chimes in

The gen II will NOT plug into and Gen I frame. You have to remove the foam and skin from all the seats and reinstall on to the gen one seats in order to use in the gen I.

Any one can do it, just take your time and be careful. Just start by remove the bottom cushion and rolling it up like taking a girls shirt off. It is the same for the back.

What you will find in the seats that helps them keep there shape is kind of like really heavy duty Velcro in the seams. Just stick your hand up there as you're rolling it off and separate the Velcro.

I dont have any step by step pic's but here are mine after they are installed.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure it's going to save me a lot of aggravation now that I know what I have to do. Your interior looks great! I have a few minor questions so look for a PM. Thanks again, Mel
