Avic d3 and Ipod

I have the d3 installed and I am experiencing problems with the new 80g Ipod video. I understand that this is a common problem. I heard that if you downgrade to a earlier version software for Ipod, it may solve the problem. Has anyone tried this? If so, what what software version you downgrade to.
