Driver and passenger automatic windows?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Is the switch just in the switch? Im wondering if i can get the switch for the back doors (on the drivers panel) too? Is this possible? Anyone tried it?

It's a function of the electronic module in the door. You would probably have better luck finding something aftermarket to do this than to rig up another front door module. (I have seen some GM cars where it was a part of the switch assembly.)

i just installed a auto down module out of a Taurus into the thundermark, look on tccoa for instructions and what to get totally different car but it should get you there

The rear windows most likely don't have auto down because you shouldn't have those windows down when driving. Either all the way down, or all the way up is the safest. And thanks to child safety (pff), you can't have the rear windows all the way down.

other than it creating drag.. why should i not have them down whilst driving?

Because the window is only part closed. In a crash, the safest position for your window to be in is closed, and the second is all the way open. With the window closed, your body won't flop out the window (if the car rolls or something, goodbye arm). With the window all the way open, there isn't as high a chance of decapitation or amputation because the window isn't there to cut something off.

I know it's really paranoid to think like that, but if you are in a wreck you don't really want to lose an arm.

As far as I can tell from my wiring diagrams, on a second gen LS the front window motors have a separate wire input (for full-up-down) but the rear don't. The switches for the rear go through the driver door module to the rear electronic module which controls the window motors.

so....when you drive you only have your front windows all the way down or fully closed? sounds odd.........

Anyway to rig the back windows to go all the way down?

Posted by: owlman

I assume the shape of the door prevents that

Check with DEI (same people that make Viper, Python, Clifford and Hornet car alarms)... they have modules that you can install which will give you the auto up-auto down.

I thought this was because the shape of the rear wheel well and door dont allow the windows to go all the way down. ON some cars, they can go all the way down.

My grandma used to get mad at me for sticking my arms out the windows. She was certain they'd get chopped off. I never listed to her and I'm really good at typing with my nose.

I've always wondered this too, also whether or not the moonroof could have an auto close. I sorta do have the moonroof auto, the button hangs and will shut itself, I just have to remember to click it back to neutral.

Posted by: LsUnV2

my 04 has auto up and down on front windows and the moon roof is auto open and close as well

Posted by: joegr

Gen II is full auto on the front windows and the moon roof. It will even go from fully open to full vent automatically if you press up on the button while the roof is open.

Damn I Wish I Had A Sunroof!!
