cruise control not working properly

Hi!

I have strange thing in my MarkVIII 2gen with cruise control. Thing is that when I switch it on and engage it switches right off I see blink of 'cruise on' light. Earlier when kept pressed the acc button little longer it stayed but now cruise will not stay on. What might be a problem? Thanks Zeed

Odd. Never heard of it blinking but I have a 96. It could be a couple of things. It could be the cruise control module itself. The other thing it could be is the clock spring in the steering wheel. If it does not work right often time the horn will not always work and cruise controls will not light up. Does your horn operate? You could also try your horn when you rotate you wheel to the far left and far right.

Isnt the Cruise on the IP bus of the Car? there might be another issue such as in the ABS module, or ECM itself.

I mean that the light blinks only once. Like cruise is on 1/5 of sec. I will try horn tomorrow, thanks.

check your brake pressure switch, its used to cancel the cruise. its located in the right front (passenger side) wheel well, towards the front of the car under the splash shield. its the only sensor tapped into a brake line, with a 2 wire connector, unplug it and check to see if there is brake fluid in the connector. these switches are the reason ford had that massive recall involving cars bursting into flames. if thats dry, then it sounds to me like maybe the brake light switch, it sounds like the system is being set but also being canceled right after

Thanks! I will check these things and let you know.

This brake switch seems to be ok or at least without oil leak. How do you check this brake light switch?

tap the brakes and see if it hangs up
