Lots of brake problems.

Ok my latest problem...my brakes are crap. they go all the way to the floor and barly stop. i just changed the master cylender and bled the brakes and put in synthetic flued. No help. Help please!

Posted by: kustomizingkid

You need to have them power bled at a dealership due to the abs system.

The booster push rod is fully located into the master cyl right? I ask this cos someone on another forum had same symptom after bleeding and that was the cause. (pushrod not fully located, dont ask me how - Lol.) Other than that, maybe more bleeding required? Remember also: diagonal split system.

Also, if you have TC you can bleed the ABS pump yourself.

Forgot to add, you did bleed the master cyl first, right? - makes bleeding the rest quicker.

Did you purge the master cylinder before you installed it? ( bench bleed )

Posted by: The_purple_lincoln_slayer

Yes. Every thing described was done. They were fine for abt one quick drive up the street. And that was all.

Posted by: 93' Blue on blue

Well, if you did everything described, then maybe its either a leak or bad master cylinder perhaps?

"synthetic flued". Which DOT? 3,4,5?

Posted by: Psychostang

Synthetic is usually Dot 5. There may be a fluid compatability problem.

Posted by: unity

Thats why I asked. I heard your not suppose to mix silicon based DOT 5 with anything at all - that means to remove ANY trace of it, to the point of replacing calipers.

Then others say its not the biggest issue, that it will "float" above the Dot 3 & 4.

Posted by: The_purple_lincoln_slayer

Ok i said i put a new master cylender in it. And its dot 3 flued. And its acting the same as before i put in synthetic.

Posted by: unity

How did you flush out all of the synth? According to those that say mixing is bad, even one drop - including that in the ABS pump, can cause major problems.

But if the fluids not the problem, gotta be air.

Posted by: The_purple_lincoln_slayer

Well i took it to a shop and told em to go crazy on it. So its fixed now. plus a tune up! woohoo

Posted by: unity

But what was the problem?

Posted by: The_purple_lincoln_slayer

i honestly have no idea.

Posted by: unity

Oh well! At least its fixed!
