So what do you guys think?
93 Mark VIII (158K)
97 Mark VIII(104K)So by how because do you think the 93 will pull on the 97 Mark VIII?

I will have the video up by tomorrow(by 2:00 am), so lets see who gets it the closest

93 should be faster...

Couldn't say by how much though, neither car is stock, plus you haven't said what kind of comparison.

Posted by: NateRW21

That's a tough one... I don't know which one is heavier...

93 really only has an exhaust... the plug wires aren't much of an upgrade and you're not making use of the extra available fuel on a car that is essentially stock.

97 has a tune...

I'm going to say the 97 is faster; if only to disagree with blue. It could be neck and neck..

I am going with the 93.

93 got dis. gen 1 represent!!!

here it is
the 97 loses its breath after 80 but it does respone better because its Tuned

Posted by: NateRW21

so I was right?

Posted by: mark0101

no the 97 lost by 2.5-3 car lenghts to a 100 mph

Posted by: NateRW21

how did it to do 80?

Posted by: 93' Blue on blue

Excellent vid! I see the 93 walked away in every comparison test... I suspected the 93 would be faster, but didnt think the difference was gonna be that big.

Put exhaust on the 97 and see what happens, i'm betting it will breathe a whole lot better above 80mph.

Posted by: kustomizingkid

The 93 pulling at higher speed prolly has a bit to do with the 255 fuel pump. The 97 just might be running out of fuel at higher speeds and rpms.

Posted by: 93' Blue on blue

^^ Thats what i was thinking too! Custom tunes tend to expose a weak original pump. (i know on Blue Oval's site, they recommend replacing an old, stock pump in prep for their tunes)

Also, the 93 has a slightly lower curb weight. (not sure of its relevance in this case though) and a better flowing intake manifold.

Posted by: mark0101

yea after an exhaust, I think I will keep upi with him after 80mph. I usually had him till about 72 MPH when he starts to just pass me like I am standing still.

I am glad to see that you are taking care of my baby very well. She is in good hands. Can you imagine if I had changed the gears in that 93? She would've been even quicker. You can get your 97 up to speed by doing the same upgrades to it like I did to the 93.

Posted by: mark0101

got a open them up sometimes..lol

Posted by: MERIJONS97LSC

All things equal, the 93 will take it!

And it did, I don't know if you saw the video

The difference between my 94 and my 96 was night and day. The 94 was simply faster everywhere, and the 96 had quite a few less miles.

A Gen I losing to Gen II just doesn't happen unless the Gen II is on steroids...

Posted by: The_purple_lincoln_slayer

Told ya

Posted by: The Rev

i saw a gen 2 on the highway a few weeks back, torched em. I was highly surprised, because my 93 needs a good tuneup.

Posted by: GMAN

My 97 is getting a dose of HGH

I'll put my 97 on Viagra, according to the commercial it will stay up for hours!!!

Posted by: Dmaup

Now here's my thinking, If the intake is the main difference between the two (other than weight) what if you were to put the cobra intake on the gen 2? Would that open things up a bit and make it equal or better? Or would it cost low end power for top end?

Posted by: 98LSC32V

With the Cobra intake you will lose a little bit of low end and mid range but it won't matter if you have gears.

Gen 2 are still sexier

+1

I couldnt agree with you more

Posted by: 93zzzt

well as soon as it warms up we are taking my 93 and 97 out for a repeat. After driving them both i'm sure the 93 will beat the gen II.

I had a run in with what looked to be a stock 95 Mark VIII with a custom flame paint job. It was even off the line, by the time I shifted into 2nd gear I had like 3 cars on him and pulling hard and then I let off. This was in my 98 LSC.

The times for your 98 in your profile is right where my 94 ran dead stock (14.651 at 97.21).

Thats enough about Mark viii vs mark viii...We're all in the family ....racing each other is like "INCEST"

In a lot of case there is also injector and cat issues at work. If the car has had a miss for a while the cats get nasty and won't flow well. I have had two of three with cat issues. My 98 is real bad, they just crackle after soft driving and my 94 had holes burned out from heat. A quick look on the computer will also tell you how your injectors arw doing. Long open time equals gummed up etc. After a proper dealership cleaning for injectors and converters done they were like a new car. I strongly recomend checking injectors out on the computer to anyone buying a new Mark. Fuel mileage is great also. Just to give a real world situation. I always coast down a long steep hill near my house(in drive) My 93 would start at 40 km and reach 105-110 km. My gen two that is gummed and convertered right now will not make 90kms!!! Granted we also have a gear issue at work, the gen two has the 3:27's. The exhaust is like a frickin Jake brake right now.
