I am seeing all of the scare stories about changing the audio. I am going to change the stereo to the upgrade Bose version on a 99 SLS. Are there some traps I need to avoid? Theft deterrent? I have purchased a matching Bose unit on ebay already.
Thanks

First off, good luck with the Bose upgrade. In case you aren't aware yet, the actual head unit isn't a real head unit. It is just like a remote. The real stereo unit is in several pieces. You have the head unit whixh sends signals to the control module which is behind the rear seat. That sends the the sound levels to each Bose speaker, which has its own little amplifier on the magnet. So an upgrade will entail at least a new head unit, control module, as well as all of the speakers. Very costly and time consuming.
