2003 Town Car Quirks

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I just got a 2003 Town Car Signature with 55,000 miles. Paid $11,400 for it after I traded in my 1994 Continental for $1500. So far I love it, very nice car. One of the few problems I have found is that the passenger side heated seat backlight, not the amber power indicator, will not stay on, it will come on intially then blink on and off until it finally cuts out. Is this a common problem?

Second issue is the parking assist, and I do not know if this is a real issue or not. When I put the car into reverse the parking assist of course comes on and starts to do a fast beep and the closer I get to something the beep becomes solid. It is a fast beep whether there is anything behind me or not. Is this normal?

Thanks for the help

Common issue on 03+ panthers

You can disassemble it and clean and resolder the resistors (which is causing the issue) - or - replace the switch.

Or just snip the backlighting wire to it so it doesn't come on at all :P

The parking assist beeps in reverse, the closer you get to something the faster it beeps. When very close it goes solid tone.

If going to solid tone too quickly the system needs to be recalibrated

How would you go about recalibrating, mine does seem out of sync.

Thanks!
