Power door locks running by themselves

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Twice now I have had my power door locks start trying to lock themselves, one door after the other, and it does not stop when you take your key out of the ignition and the car is off. You have to go the fuse panel and pull the metal can circuit breaker. This stops them but does not solve the problem. The next day I plugged the can back in and the system had reset itself. Now it happened again. While it was, I removed the right kick plate under the glove compartment. On my 86, the power door lock/unlock relays seem to be combined on a circuit board inside a black plastic box. As I was wiggling this box loose to get it out, the locks returned to normal. Must be something intermittant with a circuit board inside. I got another box from the junkyard and put it in, works fine. I'll see what happens. Bob Reilich

Me again. I you do this, and you have keyless entry, don't forget to get the 5 digit code from the trunk hinge arm, passenger side. It will go with the box you pull. The black plastic box is about 3"x3"x6" long.
