Alright guys, I love my car except it doesnt have one thing .. Before I tell you what it is and before you guys start bashing me and telling me why i didnt get an LS with one .. I loved the color, great mileage, not dent, scratch, interior excellent, everything is perfect ..

The thing i wish it had was a sun roof, what the hell guys lol .. I love sun roofs in cars, my car don't have one, now I an thinking of getting one done professionally, but here's the problem, my friends said not to because it will leak and give me problems ..

Question, is that true, or forget the sun roof and enjoy the damn car?!

( I dont really care if i dont have one, its an ls anyway!! ) but yeah, just a thought ..

I've been looking for a new car for the wife and have considered a 2nd LS. I was looking at a '06, black on black, looks awesome...all options except a sunroof and that was a deal breaker for me. A sunroof may seem insignificant but i cant justify spending that much $$$ for a luxury car that doesnt have a damn sunroof. Living in Florida its a must have for me. I wouldnt go chopping up an LS to put in an aftermarket sunroof though.

Posted by: xarruda89x

Yeah i was parked right next to an LS just like mine, same rims, same color everything looked the same, the damn thing had a sun roof, i was like wtf, why doesnt mine have one lol.

Just look at this way. When they become collector cars yours will be worth more. I don't know the amount but I personally have seen only 3 LS's without moonroofs. There is a very limited number without moonroofs. Enjoy your ride man.

Lincoln LS OEM is moon roof.

FYI: Metal panel=sun roof, glass panel=moon roof.

Posted by: luttersj

hmm, I didn't even realize you could get an LS without a moon roof!

so what do you have on the headliner where the moon roof would be? Anything? if so, you'd probably have to get an all new headliner as well. In the moon roof version, I have a place to store sunglasses up by the mirror then it's the moon roof.

want no more! you shall have!

I thought a sunroof only moved upwards, and a moonroof completely opened (slid backwards).

Sun roof let's in the sun. Moon roof allows you to stand up through it and shoot the moon.

Posted by: xarruda89x

how much you guys think it is to put an after market moon roof

Posted by: HyeLifeLS

I wouldn't mess with the roof, the sunroof or moonroof, however you wanna call it, is a huge work, the whole headliner is different and lower and bunch of other stuff. I wouldn't touch it.

Posted by: xarruda89x

eh I guess your right, sucks though I promised myself to get a car with a moonroof but things don't always turn out they way you want it to.

Posted by: HyeLifeLS

You gotta keep your promises man.... lol, sell it and buy another one.

Posted by: xarruda89x

LOL I just got this one and still owe a few grand on it ... I can live .. Still an ls!

Both the window price sticker and the Lincoln owner’s manual refer to it as a moonroof.

Seems Ford was the first to coin the word moonroof back in the 70’s.

Quite a few companies do aftermarket moonroofs. Many newer cars support them and the owners don't even realize its a aftermarket. The headliner is usually hung and not formed and the switch itself is a give away as its usually not a factory one and often located differently. Also a factory roof will be stamped right into the roof metal the aftermarket will have a extra edge/trim to seal the hole they cut. While I agree the LS probably has more with moonroofs than without these aftermarket ones are everywhere. 2 of my friends Mark7s had them...they were like why is your switch there I would answer cuase mine is real. Very common on MarkVIIIs too. Moonroofs are a popular option that people want and if it will sell the car dealerships will have the aftermarket ones put in, not like they can send the car back through the assembly line to put the right roof on.

I personally would rather not have one if its not the real deal and actually won't even consider a car if its a fake.

I have one, and honestly, dont use it that much.

I usually have the shade covering it anyway. Usually on a nice summer day, the sun is beaming right on you. So it ends up getting closed.

Though, i still do love having one...go figure.

One of the deal makers on my SS was it had no Sun/moon roof. Not a big thing for me cause of a few reasons. Adds a hefty amount of weight, can end up leaking causing more than a little problem if not known and the car gets hotter, even if it has one of them pull covers cause the rays well be attracted to the dark surface and heat up between the window and cover. Unless you have a dark color car it doesn't make a big difference but still. Might be nice to have it cracked open or open all the way here and there but I do not like when its hot out, so why have the roof open letting the rays in(I get headaches from to much sunlight). And really no need for it at night.

For the amount you pay to have a roof put in you could of done a good amount of mods to make it that much faster or nicer.

I wouldn't touch an aftermarket moonroof (or sunroof) with a ten foot pole, but I rather like the factory moonroof on my LS. It's great for venting the car while running down the highway--put it in the "up" position, and it provides very good ventilation with little noise and buffeting, something that's not true of the windows.

My dad has a F150 with leather sunroof/moonroof, heated seats all that good stuff, the first thing i do when i get in it is slide open the cover lol, i just love it, but yeah sun light does tend to bug the driver sometimes, i had experienced that in my dads truck while driving, but its still cool.

Whatever, i dont even care anymore, but it does complete the car =P

haha

Don't forget if you don't want to mess with the cutting of the roof and headliner you can always get one of these....

haha, nice to see the fake sunroof making a comeback here at lvc.

"Don´t buy it elsewhere for 70.00 dlls"

haha, i dont believe ive ever seen it elsewhere

Posted by: xarruda89x

Lmao, why would anyone buy that, you get in the car and its like where the hell is it

i really wish mine had a sun/moonroof too...i never had one so i don't really know what i'm missing out on though. another thing that got me was there isn't anywhere to put the loose change. i looked forever when i first got this car expecting to find a little coin holder somewhere

The console in the '04 LS has a coin holder. By the way, my wife's LS does not have a moon (sun) roof. She did not want one and we were stoked to find one without it! However, due to the fact that the car sat on the new car sales lot for about one year tells me that most buyers insist on one!

I bought my LS8 Sport earlier this month. I hunted around for a low mileage 03+ and found one in San Antonio, TX...8,300 Miles...a little old man had owned it and traded it back in at the originating dealer.

I had a Webasto Sunroof / Moonroof installed in it and my drive out for everything was around $17K.

I also picked up a 2004 Aviator and since the dealer advertised it had a Sunroof / Moonroof and it didn't have one I had the dealer install a Webasto at no cost to me. This was after all of the numbers were set in stone!

The TADA is a wonderful bargaining tool!

I have had Webasto Sunroofs / Moonroofs previously and no problems.

You can expect to pay around $850.00 - $1,100.00 Retail.

The 03+ have a removable coin holder in the console as 99 KOBRA stated.
