warning indicators in dash...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

first off...where it tells you how many miles you have left in your fuel tank and it warns you of things...well, i just changed my oil and reset my system and it came on tonight..well, just over a thousand miles now and the warning indicator showed up saying change oil soon...i then reset my system, and it continues to show...how do i remove that indicator?

second...my brake lamp went out, and i removed the carpet in the trunk to look at it, and unfortunately it appears that i cannot change the bulb from my trunk...do i have to remove the enitire tail light?...and what about the that black seal looking thing in between the the light and the body work?...will that be damaged and have to be replaced when i remove the tail light?...

Ok, you have to remove the taillight to change any of the bulbs over there, no nothing will get damaged, just hold the taillight when you unbolt it so it won't tilt over and maybe scratch your bumper.

I have no idea about the reset thing, I have a V6 and I these don't have the messege center and the headache that comes standard with it lol.

BLAST!!!!...*shakes fist*...i need to know...its annoying...i really want an SCT Xcal2...i know for sure that it would go away then...hmmm...that might be a good alternative...but how can it go away otherwise?...

Mine always resets the oil life when I press "RESET". You click the "STATUS" button once, to show the oil life, then press "RESET" and it should reset the oil life. At least thats how it is on my 2000 V8. For the tail light, yes it must be removed from the car. It's only held in by 3 bolts. Be careful not to drop them in between the inner body and outer. And I would suggest only tightening them by hand....

SCT Xcal2 will be no help, it can only reset CEL.

It is like eastcoast27959 said. The how to is in your owners manual also.

i reset it as soon as i noticed it, but it didnt help...still saying change oil soon...i have good oil...but it makes no sense...i swear, i think the previous owner of my car hit a gypsy in it...no "major" problems, just little anoyances...maybe they just bumped into a gypsy and didnt kill them...

This is how I did it in my '03 as well.

as I recall, you'll hit reset, and it will say press again to reset... or something along those lines. If it keeps coming up; I don't know what to tell ya!! That would be a computer problem

i was driving earlier and poking around at the reset and status buttons and somehow after resetting everything about 19 times i managed to reset my oil...now i have to just change my bulb, but the weather is horribe and i dread doing this because the weather will remain horrible for several days i figure...
