I have a 2000 LS and the airbag light blinks and then stay's on sometimes. Does anyone have this issue and can anyone tell me what could have triggered this. Is there a way to make it turn off or will I have to take it into the shop.

could be the connector under your driver's seat is loose - there is a sensor in the seat to make sure the driver is in the right position to enable the system.

I had this problem numerous times for 2 years. It was in the shop atleast 8. Once they made me pay for a part they later realized wasn't necessary. It is now fine and I don't remember what they did the last time to fix it becuase it was changed so many times. I think they just flashed the system for the 6th time and I am just getting lucky it hasn't come back on.

well - the connector under the driver's has been the culprit at least a dozen times in troubleshooting similar issues with other LS owners. since the driver's seat move back and forth all the time it tends to come loose or fray.

in my 01 ls i had the rear wiring harness go bad, i took it to the dealer and they had found the problem and fixed it in about 2 hours.

Thanks guys for all you're input. I checked the driver seat and sure enough that the connection was loose. Ever since fixing that, the stupid warning light has not come back since.

Thanks everyone.,

Where?? I have same problem but did not see any wires that looked out of place. Where exactly did you see that?

Anyone know what the connector looks like. My light just came on today. Seems to flash a few times then goes on solid. I looked under the seat and I think I seen 2 connectors. Well I am off to search the forum.

Well I read where this has happened in Ford Trucks and vans nd they reported a clockspring in the steering column has anyone come across this on the LS.

Folks that had this problem with other vehicle as reported problems with the radio, horn and cruise control but all of these devices work fine.

Yes - I have replaced my clockspring - $100

So I checked my text file and guess what I found I am a crack baby, I must be.

Guess I will PM my buddy Maxx at five star and find out what the damage is, besides the obvious drain bamage I have suffered.

I believe it is:

Part Number: XW4Z-14A664-AA
Description: SW ASY - 429186

Hey are your familiar with the loose steering wheel problem? The steering wheel exhibits a little slack in it?

Thank you for the P/N!

Posted by: Quik LS

nope - my steering feels tight - and I am picky about that....

Posted by: eL eS

I'll have to search the other forums a little. Mine has always had a litle slop in it vertically. The steering wheel can be lifted by about 1/4". IIRC there was a problem with a bearing or something. I am curious if when I have this off if I would be in the vicinity of the problem spot.

Now would be a great time to check that out El! Let us know what you find.

I am having this same problem... my airbag light flashes and then stays on .... what type of wiring am I looking for? like should it be black wiring or another color or whatever.. and also this is under the drivers seat correct?
