New owner, a couple of questions

Hey everyone, I just bought a 2000 LS, v6, auto, sport package, 80k miles. The car drives great, I just love driving it. I just had a couple of questions, hopefully they haven't been discussed too much, I tried searching and didn't come up with much.

The first is that I noticed that my cruise doesn't work. The cruise light comes on, but the car doesn't hold the speed. I'm pretty sure it's not a clockspring issue because it seems that all of the steering wheel controls work as they're supposed to. Any ideas?

Also, I noticed tonight that the gas pedal is loose. The pedal moves side to side a bit. The brake pedal is solid and tight, it's just the gas pedal. Has anyone dealt with this? Is it normal?

And finally when reving the motor when in park, it's almost as if there's a rev limiter set at 3k rpms. There's no misfires under load, it revs very smoothly in gear. Is this normal?

Thank you very much, I appreciate any help!

Vinnie

Dunno about the first two, but the rev limiter in park and neutral is common.

Welcome aboard.

Yes there is a 3K rev limiter in park & neutral.

Check your owner’s manual about the operation of the cruise control to make sure you are setting the speed correctly. If you don’t have the owner’s manual down load it from TECH ARTICLES at the top of the page.

Someone else will have to help you with the gas pedal issue.

Enjoy you LS.

Hey, thank you, I'm really glad I found this forum. Everyone here seems to be really helpful and knowledgable. Hopefully sooner or later I'll learn enough so I can actually help instead of just asking questions.

Thank you for the replies, glad there's a rev limiter and not some kind of a misfire.
