Dealership For Air Bag Light

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hey peoples i went to the dealership today, to get them to fix my air bag light. now i told him that the yellow connector under the driver seat is split, and that was the reason. he said that they still have to do a diagnostic because it might not be that wire so i said im pretty sure so i paid it anyway. now they come back and tell me thats what it is and they cant solder it back together so they have to replace the who harness and it all came up to 310.00 dollars thats including the diagnostic. so i said no because i dont believe they cant just solder it back together would are you guys suggestions? and do my batteries have to be unhooked to put that wire back together, because i dont want the air bags to deploy.

aftermarket connectors... and tell them to go to hell!!!!

yes disconect the batterie before you do that

yah fix it yourself, the dealership cant legally patch fix active safty systems on your car, if you get in a wreck and that solder joint breaks and the bags dont deploy the dealership would be responable. I worked in the dealership for over 6 years before going into prototype

ok, there is no way i could get to my batteries unless i unhook my audio system. so with me connecting that wire it would deploy the air bags?

Any time you are working on anything to do with the airbags you need to disconnect the negative cable from the battery. You do not want any loud and expensive surprises.
