Tire Size for 18" Wheels

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: 04SCTLS

Bought these wheels on ebay and was wondering what size tires you 18" guys are running.
Some of the tire websites recommend 245/40/18.
Can I go wider than this say a 255 or 265, at least on the back?

Depends on the offset. I have the Jag Type R wheels with 285/35 tire on the rear.

what offset do you have and the width of wheel too?

Posted by: 04SCTLS

Size
18x7.5 Inch

PCD/Bolt Patterns
5 x 108mm or 5x4.25

OFFSET/ET
+35mm

Play around on this offset calculator:
http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Stock wheel is 7.5 wide with a 60mm offset

Yours is 7.5 wide with a 35mm offset

You are coming out closer to the outer lip by about an inch.

I would be hesitant to go any wider than 245 with that offset.

Awesome looking wheel BTW!!

Probably no more than 245 with 7.5 wheel.

02V8sport, did you get the 285s already?

Posted by: 04SCTLS

ok i'll go with 245's.
Always liked 5 spoke wheels.
These are double 5 spoke and pretty light weight.
Thanks guys.

I just got my Blizzaks (245/45/17) mounted and put on the car. The first thing I noticed was how quiet the highway ride is. Is this a common thing with all snow or all-season tires? Are they known to be noticably quieter than performance tires? Or are my summer tires just that loud and if I went with a different brand it would get better?

I have 245/45/17 Ventus tires mounted to the wheels in the summer. They have pretty good tread depth so I think they're pretty new.

Really? Every set of Blizzaks I've ever ran, or heard were pretty noisy compared to the summer tires. Maybe your summer tires are just especially noisy so it seems as if the Blizzaks are quites

oops. sorry, I didn't mean to go OT on your topic. I meant to start a new one instead. if any mods see my post above (#9) please remove it as I already started a new thread. Also, am I losing my mind? I thought we used to be able to edit our own posts....

back to your regularly scheduled topic!

I have them in my garage, just have to wait for winter to pass to get them mounted to the Jag wheels. I am difinitely keeping the 18's on the car. Im up in the air about the 19's. Those I will make a decision on selling those once spring comes too.
