Gas Gauge

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a gen 2 and my gas gauge has been acting funny since I got it. I did a search and didn't really find anything so I thought I would ask.

When I fill up the gauge never goes to full. Its at about 7/8 of a tank. The digital says that I have 16 gallons when full. Is that right? I thought that these had 18 gallon tanks. But I could be wrong.

I was wondering if anyone had this problem and if they knew how to fix it? Thanks for the input. Oh and I always shut the car off when I fill up because I know that messes with the gauge.

18 gallons. Sounds like the fuel lever sender might be on it's way out. Good time to replace the pump while you're at it.

Guessing by you saying that its a good time to replace the pump, means it's in the tank.

That may have to wait till its nice outside, cause it's way to cold to drop the tank now.

yea, i have the same problem. i didn't bother fixing mine because too much work involved in droping the tank and changing the sender unit. if that duzn't fix the problem, it could also be the message center. the best way to get a grip on how much gas u got is to count the miles. a full tank i believe takes about 256 mi before empty. just use the trip buttons
